On the side

itlog na pula, kamatis, sibuyas, manggang hilaw, inihaw na talong at okra

I think any Filipino dish can be made even more delicious with a side dish of red egg, chopped tomatoes, chopped onions, chopped green mangoes, bagoong, roasted eggplant and okra! I’m sure not all of you agree on the okra part but I’m a big okra fan so I’ll include that in the list. Yummy!

i love okra… in sinigang, pakbet, kahit steamed lang. sarap!

re: poached egg. mejo mahirap nga gawin at first. praktis lang. bring to a boil water in saucepan, tapos lower heat until nde na ito nagbo-boil. try mo add 1-2 tsp vinegar to the water before adding the raw egg.

    hth! :)

i love salted eggs, too 😀 sobrang saya ako when i found out those were also sold here! yun nga lang, the mangoes aren’t the same. i love the maasim kind (manggang kalabaw sa atin), dito kasi they sell the sweet kind (parang apple mangoes). well, i guess that’s one thing about home that i can always look forward to, di ba? :)

Well I’m right in there with you on the okra! I love this Toni and miss it so much!

Sa Singapore, our landlords took us out on a picnic one time and wala lang, nag-guisa ako ng bagoong and grilled some okra… hit na hit sa mga intsik… hehehe.

    Toni,

This is the 3rd comment that i’ve posted to you in the last say… half hour? By gosh, i can’t seem to leave your lovely site!

And this… you’ve listed all my favourite but can’t get hold of itlog na maalat. But i’m drooling over your photo. All i need now is hot steaming rice…

dexie: Yup it’s itlog na maalat!

pao: Salamat sa poached egg tip. Susubukan ko yan soon!

jeanny sis: Hehehe alam ko na ang ultimate punishment mo! papakainin kita ng maraming okra!

ruth: Yes kahit anong Pinoy food bagay talaga ‘to! Except siguro mga maaasim like Sinigang. 😀

lette: How’ve you been? Long time no hear! My fishies are okay! From the original 7, 4 nalang ang natira. Hehe. Tibay nga ng 4 eh!

mia: Pagdating mo dito, don’t forget to remind me to feed you green mangoes! Sana nga lang in season hehe.

junnie: Tama! Nagkakamay! Sarap! Btw, diba ikaw yun may hate sa okra? Or was it talong?

sidney: You should do a series on Pinoy food. :)

anna: Okay ginutom mo ako ulit kahit kakakain ko lang!

jet: Ang sarap naman niyan!!!!!!!!!!! Okra and bagoong rocks!!!

justice: o sya, hindi kita pipilitin kumain ng okra at baka lumala ang trauma mo!

mae: How come you can’t get hold of itlog na maalat? Where are you based? :)

paz: Yes! It could be a meal nga!
