Sunday morning is my most favorite time of the week. My husband, my son and I are most relaxed on a Sunday morning. Perhaps that’s why on a Sunday morning, anything goes.

Morning Coffee Table
Sunday Morning Relaxation
It’s a Monday morning as I write this blog entry, and as I look at yesterday’s pictures, I can’t help but smile remembering how laid back the morning was. During more quiet moments, I would be reading a book on the living room couch, while Timmy would be seated by the coffee table playing with characters from Winnie the Pooh.

Popcorn for Morning Snack
There was also our shared favorite snack: Popcorn. My son and I giggled over popcorn, chomping loudly on the yummy white clusters. It was also a good exercise in sharing. Timmy surprised me with this. When he saw my bowl was empty, he approached me with his own half-filled bowl, picked two kernels from his popcorn bowl and brought them to my mouth. So sweet. After I chewed on the popcorn, he gave me another handful. Thank you for sharing, Timmy!

Relaxing with my son
“Mommy, wook!” Timmy called out to me, asking me to look at his new antic. When I looked up at him, he was sitting on the coffee table with a bowl of popcorn on his lap. This would usually trigger me to say, “Timmy, sit on your chair!” Instead we just laughed, I rumpled his hair and told him to be careful. It was a Sunday morning. Sometimes we just have to chill and yep, sit on tables.

Precious Sunday morning moments
But our most favorite moment is when we’re relaxing together. I grew up respecting Sunday as “Family Day.” I found it very difficult to join my friends when they’d arrange get-togethers or road trips on Sundays. As far as I can remember, Sundays were always enjoyed and celebrated with family. From lazy Sunday mornings with my Mom, Dad and sisters to Sunday dinners at my grandparents’ place, Sunday was highly family-centric. That’s how it continues to be with my own family now. Sundays are for the family.

Father and Son on our favorite Sunday morning
Sunday morning is also what I hold on to when I get back to the work week. When stress begins to kick in, I try to hang on to the relaxed and cheery vibe of my family’s Sunday morning. It works out pretty well. By the time my “Sunday morning reserves” are gone, it’s usually the end of the week and Sunday would be nearing once again.
Then it’s back to popcorn mornings, giggles over tables to be sat on, hugs and kisses all around. On our family’s Sunday mornings, everything is cheery and relaxed. During our Sunday mornings, anything goes.
What are your Sunday mornings like? Is it your favorite time of the week too? Come share what makes your favorite time of the week extra special for you.
