Ordinary moments make life most special

by

Ordinary moments may just be the most special ones if you look really closely.

Bedtime is one of my favorite rituals of the day. The ritual usually goes like this: I put Timmy on the bed where he begins playing with his Legos or toy animals. My husband will be seated beside him, surfing the net on his iPad. I’d be the first in the bathroom, washing the day away. When I’m all set for bed, it’s Timmy’s turn. I wash him up, dress him in his jammies, brush teeth and we snuggle, reading a couple of books while waiting for Daddy to finish his turn at the bathroom. Ordinary moments, ordinary evenings. But oh boy, this is my favorite part of the day.

Ordinary moments are made special by the two loves of my life

“Time stands still best in moments that look suspiciously like ordinary life.”

That’s got to be my most favorite quote of all from StoryPeople. It rings true, doesn’t it?

That one evening when I took the pic above was special indeed, like time stood still for me and my family. After my husband is done with washing up, he then joins our little pile on the bed. Sometimes we watch a movie before bedtime, usually it’s Despicable Me 2. Other times we read tons of books until one of us becomes sleepy. Then we turn off the lamp and drift off to dreamland as a family.

They’re not ordinary moments at all.

Especially that one night when we were all in plaid pajamas. It wasn’t planned at all and I got a good laugh, making sure to capture that shared plaid moment. That’s how we usually are too. Forming one triangle when we sleep, if we aren’t squished together in one big hug.

Ordinary moments make life most special. They’re seen in routine and in the mechanical parts of everyday. What are ordinary moments of your day that bring you joy? They may not be so ordinary after all!

With my girls, every ordinary day is special. I like it every dinner time, cause that is the time that my 2 older girls really share what happened to then that day. Story to the end yun.

Love this post! We are alike in more ways than we know — we love squishing together with the kids, too! And, by some weird coincidence, Tim and Timmy have the same plaid PJ’s! Heehee!

Bedtime is also my favorite time with the little one. He’s at his most sweet during that time. Haha! While nursing, he would glance up at me and smile this sweetest smile. Sometimes he would touch my cheek to indicate that he would like a “nose-to-nose.” He also has this funny way of playing when sleepy. :)
