What do you want to happen in Breaking Dawn?

by

Breaking Dawn is the fourth book in the Twilight series authored by Stephenie Meyer. There have been a lot of theories on Breaking Dawn’s plot. Here are my thoughts! Feel free to share your own also. I love brainstorming on Breaking Dawn theories. 😉 To those who haven’t read the Twilight series, my dream Breaking Dawn plot will contain spoilers. Just a friendly reminder!

What do I want to happen in Breaking Dawn? Okay. I’ve been very vocal about my love for Jacob over Edward. But that’s me. That’s is if I were Bella. And that’s a totally different thing from what I want to happen in Breaking Dawn. So here goes.

Whoever Bella chooses, if ever she has to choose, this is what I want: I want Bella to realize she is her own person. First love is exhilarating, especially if you’ve got the hottest (well, in this case, coldest!) guy in school head over heels in love with you. Then you’ve got this guy’s complete opposite who’s as rough and rustic as he is smooth and refined. Fire and ice wanting to be your boyfriend. What’s a girl to do?

I would love for Bella to be stronger and not let herself be defined by Edward or Jacob or even Mike Newton. She says Edward is her soulmate. Maybe, maybe not. I will not contest that. But I’d love for her to enjoy her teenage years without being stuck to the hip of Edward Cullen.

I’d love for her to see Jacob as a real friend and not a fallback. She was on the rebound in New Moon after all.

I’d love for her to go to college. As a single woman. A single human woman.

Does she even need to choose between Edward and Jacob? No. But if she does need to choose between the two, I hope she takes a couple of years to think about it. Going for Edward for eternity just so she won’t be too old for him is premature. Going for Jacob just because he’s the other choice if Edward isn’t there is also premature. Making both choices at this stage of her life is both immature and premature actually.

In a nutshell, I’d like Bella to grow up and be a strong woman. She’s still a girl after all. I’d like her to be an example to the pre-teens and teens reading the series. Love is wonderful, being adored is fantastic, but those should not limit you or blind you to the possibilities of discovering who you really are and what you really are meant to do, to be. Adoration from others could help, but they should not limit what you want to do for yourself, especially at an age of transition. Bella needs to become a woman. And to do that, she needs to know get to know herself first.

***

As shared, these are my thoughts. It’s so ideal I know it won’t happen. Now, no bashing okay? I know how Twilighters can be very passionate about their beliefs. 😉 Let’s keep an open discussion here. I’d love to hear how you’d love Breaking Dawn to end!

i have just started on the series by reading twilight but i have a pretty rough idea of what’s on the rest of the books from fan spoilers and reading up on other books’ excerpts myself. by the way, i don’t mind the sploilers, i’m the type who doesn’t mind knowing the ending, it’s how the story evolves towards the ending that i’m after :)
anyway, on your thoughts, i agree with you. although i don’t know everything that happened with bella, but i think that she’s pretty young to decide for eternity. she should enjoy what life has to offer and not settle for what’s readily available. as in actual life, you have to become your own person first before being for another.

Well hello fellow Twilighter. And… naku read na New Moon!!! And Eclipse!! Then you’ll get an even more solid understanding of these ideals I wrote about. I’m happy you share them too!

That’s exactly why I don’t like Bella — she’s become BellaEdward instead of her own Bella. Of course, like what I wrote in my review, it’s not that I know how it feels to be madly in love with someone like Bella, but at some point in the novel, Bella won’t move without Edward’s permission, or at least, without Edward influencing it. 😐

So I guess I agree with you. I want Bella to grow up, and not hurry her marriage and being a vampire. She’s making her world revolve around Edward too much.

Oh, and I want more Jacob in Breaking Dawn. =D Hahaha. But I really still don’t want him for Bella, but maybe that’s only because I think Bella’s too clingy and immature for someone as nice as Jacob. 😀

I liked Bella until my sister pointed out to me how flawed she was. Ah, my sister was right. Not a very good example to teenagers really. She needs to get a spine!!

And yes, more Jacob in Breaking Dawn please! His “being half-naked” does not bother us. Hehehe. Twilighter inside joke ‘no!

Jacob is such a sweetie. I’d like for him to imprint on someone much better and nicer than Bella 😀 and I’d like for them to find a way to turn Edward human again so that he can loosen up and not be so tortured all the time. Or maybe he can become a super crime-fighting vampire, to redeem his soul and all. I want Alice to find out more about her past.

Hmm, wala na akong maisip because to be honest I don’t care much about the other characters. I like your wishes for Bella though. Maybe I’d like her more if she became her own person but that’s unlikely to happen 😉

I WANT JACOB TO IMPRINT ON ANGELA.

    :)

She’ll take suuuuuper good care of him. And vice versa.

    I predict that:

Jacob is going to imprint on Leah Clearwater.

Bella will become a vampire…but hopefully grow up and become more independent too. I also think the Volturi will make a reappearance.

But who knows–I can’t wait to find out!!

    (Team Edward!)

But hasn’t he seen Leah after he phased? Hmmm. 😛 Ah who knows with all these darn imprinting rules! And I agree about the Volturi making an appearance again. Jane will be out to get Bella.

^I was thinking Leah Clearwater too, but I don’t know that much about her, and what if she imprints on somebody else? Kawawa naman si Jacob, hehe… maybe he should go into gambling. Unlucky in love = lucky with cards right?

Jacob and Angela, now that’s a cute idea. Bella and Angela can stay human and they can all hang out together. 😀 (hmm… has any werewolf imprinted on a non-Quilete/non-Indian though?)

Although the white chess queen seems to indicate that Bella will turn vampire. Ah well. What happens is anyone’s guess.

I’m waiting for the 4th book or special boxed sets to be released before I buy my copies. I’ve learned my lesson from Harry Potter… bought all the books separately THEN I just had to buy the boxed set. So now, I have identical copies. Sayang! Buti na lang the libraries here carry the Twilight books – in both English and Swedish. 😀

There’s a theory nga from some fans that Jacob may never imprint. Awww poor boy.

Good point on the imprinting on non-Quileute! I don’t know the answer to that.

There’s talk about a 5th book! But I think that’s Midnight Sun already.

You know, after Twilight, I really wasn’t feeling much love for Bella. Sure, I’d love a happy ending, but I confess, I’m not as concerned for her as you are. That said, I foresee salvation for Edward, with him reverting back into a human for whatever reason. He probably does something to save his soul? I like the idea of them growing old and maturing as a couple, rather than spending the rest of eternity together.

I do want someone nice for Jacob—but definitely not Bella. He’s too good for her, I think. I want someone who’ll truly love him and match his love with the same intensity of his own love. I absolutely hated that scene where they were all together as Bella was sleeping. I absolutely wanted to wring Bella’s neck for putting them all in that situation. So yeah, not much love for her from me 😛

I understand about not having some Bella love! She gets so selfish without realizing it.

And I totally get you on having someone else for Jacob. I wish the same for him. Sigh.

i lost interest reading the third book because i felt sorry for jacob…and my teenage sister (who got me started on twilight) said bella fell in love with jacob. haay. namamanka sa dalawang ilog as they say. or something like that. i did get to read the first chapter of that book from edward’s point of view; looks interesting.

has anyone read “the host” stephanie meyer’s first adult novel?

rees last blog post..Biker Chicks–The Prequel

True. My heart went out to Jacob in the 3rd book. And yeah Bella was doing that, namamangka sa dalawang ilog. Kakainis nga eh. Kakaawa tuloy si Jacob. Pero I think it’s a really good book so still worth reading kahit nakakaawa si Jacob.

I’ve read The Host. It’s good. It starts off a bit slow but then it hooks you. So don’t judge it by the first 3 chapters. Afterwards it picks up and you’ll definitely get into the groove of Wanderer.

It took me a month reading new moon because I was very annoyed with Bella.
    hole? what the?

I’ve had eclipse for a month now and not really in the mood to read it.

as to my ideas on what’s going to happen on breaking dawn, well, here they are:
Bella goes to college, doesn’t marry Edward, and doesn’t become a vampire.
Her relationship with Edward? They’re probably not going to see each other anymore.
Jacob? Hm…Jacob’s a nice guy. I hope they stay friends, but it probably won’t be the same anymore.

    Ahh…I don’t know.
Bottom line is, I hope the ending of the Twilight series would be what’s right and not what they want.

Funny, if I ever read something like this comment 5 months ago, I would probably yell at them.
Reading new moon was really an eye opener for me on how Bella really is too young.

    But what do I know? I’m only 14 😀

You’re much much kinder to Bella than I will ever be. :) But I agree to your point in general. She needs to mature before making life altering decisions.

Hahaha! Yeah I know she doesn’t get that much love from a lot of people. 😀

But, but… Jacob HAS to imprint! Kawawa naman siya if he stays bitter and lonely forever.

Of course, I’m super assuming here that Bella will end up with Edward. The way Stephenie Meyer talks kasi in the few interviews I’ve read and watched, she’s squarely on Team Edward that I can’t see how she will make her character do a complete 180… unless totally mali ang pagkaintindi ko sa kanya.

Oo nga no about Midnight Sun. Guess I’ll have to wait another year or so before I buy the series 😉

True, I feel sad for Jacob if he’ll never imprint on anyone. :(( Poor little wolfie.

Hayyy I suuuuuper assume too that Bella will end up with Edward. I have a feeling!

I like your theories because I agree. I think that the other book that Stephenie won’t tell us about is going to be Jane Eyre. The theme behind Jane Eyre is discovering how to give love without sacrificing one’s own autonomy, something Bella still hadn’t learned at the end of Eclipse. She wants to sacrafice herself at any moment for the people she loves and especially for Edward. Why not learn that you don’t have to do that in order to show love first? She’s rushing things because that’s what young people do, they rush things not realizing all that they need to learn in order to make those important decisions. I understand the entire point of the story is undying, true, eternal love but at what costs? It always comes down to the cost of her soul and life. So she has to give her soul and life to have love? How fair is that?

I’m one of the few “don’t want Bella turned into a vampire.” I guess those of us that feel like that are few and hide because of all the evil internet stares that get thrown our way.:) I can’t help it. I thought I wanted her to become what he is but after taking a step back, I realized that it’s not something that someone should want for themselves, love or not. She’s after this mystery of being an immortal without realizing what she’s truly giving up in return. This is where my respect for Edward comes in huge. I think he’s doing the right thing by trying to delay her more and more because he knows exactly what she will give up and what she will turn into. He could easily be selfish and think about how much easier his life would be with his love as an unbreakable vampire but he’s not. I can’t imagine loving someone and having to change them into a vampire that will lust after human blood forever. Look at how Carlisle doubts himself constantly about whether it was the right thing or not. It’s taken him centuries to get to perfect the blood lust. The thought of the newborn stage sends chills down me thinking of what she would be. It’s ugly, not a beautiful love story with a happy ending. Sure the ending is forever but the getting there is years and years and then you still know what she is and what she’d be capable of. It just seems different with Edward for some reason. I guess because it wasn’t something he chose to do. Why put yourself through that? Why not love with all you have with the life you’ve been given? If you truly believe in the truest of loves, nothing should matter.

I guess this isn’t so much a theory as what I wish would happen. I’m not sure the vampire thing will go that way because I fear that SM might have had to give into fans in order to keep the hate mails down.:)

Echo echo echo! I totally get where you’re coming from. Super thanks for sharing those thoughts! We are on the same boat. :)

I worry too that SM might give the fans something they’d want to hear, but I have full faith in her that she’ll write BD the way it’s supposed to be written — the way she envisioned it!

I’m with Edward when he’s charming. I don’t actually like it that he broods to much. Jacob is really funny but I wished Meyer didn’t make him into a werewolf at all. Why can’t Edward’s rival be human? With both her choices being out of this world, Bella has no chance to have a real life. And like you, I’d want her to be more independent and not to be too gaga about love.

Yeah, I missed the humans in BD. Maybe Mike should’ve had a fighting chance.
