Smallest gestures mean most

by

The smallest gestures mean most, especially when it comes to a 10-year marriage. It’s the little things that you do for your partner that reminds him or her that you’re taking care of them well, that they’re in your thoughts even at the simplest of tasks. Love is in the details.

Surprise packed lunch from my husband yesterday

My husband’s a big fan of how the smallest gestures mean most. We leave for work separately, with him leaving ahead of me on most days. Yesterday this packed lunch surprised me on the kitchen table, complete with a spoon and fork. I wasn’t expecting it at all. Of course, he prepared rice. He knows me well.

When the smallest gestures mean most

Surprises come in other forms, both from him and me.

  • A toothbrush already with a dollop of toothpaste on the bathroom counter.
  • Pajamas ready on the bed when the other’s getting ready for bedtime.
  • A mug of hot tea, unrequested but much welcomed.
  • A bar of chocolate. (More of a surprise for me, from him)
  • A large-sized fruit shake. (More of a surprise for him, from me)
  • Setting the alarm clock for the other, as back-up.
  • Covering the other with a blanket on cold nights.

The list goes on and on, and I’m grateful for the many little things. Grand gestures are awesome, and it doesn’t hurt to have these as well. I’d take multiple small gestures over the sweeping ones though, especially when they perk up my everyday.

It’s the little things that make a marriage stronger, bigger. Love is in the details. Like a dollop of toothpaste or a packed lunch.

I agree. My hubby is not a grand romantic but he more than makes it up with small gestures. Of course it is up to me to recognize these small gestures, no matter how tiny they might. I might even need a magnifying glass to notice them. hehehe

This is sooo true.. small gestures are really big!! I also asked my hubby to take the 5 language of love test and i found out that he’s more on the services.. so effective immediately, I make it a point to prepare something for him during our free time, or give him a glass of juice or ice cold water while he’s cleaning the car.. Small but it means a lot to him.. :)

It made me think din tuloy what tiny gestures my husband does for me. Minsan, I get so dense, that I don’t realize the little things he does for me. If there’s one thing that I truly appreciate about him, is that whenever I finish cooking, and setting up the table, he takes charge of the dishes and cleans up my mess in the kitchen. He does this without me asking him. So thanks for this post, because it made me feel that I need open my eyes more and appreciate my husband more often than not. :)

We express our love and affection in different ways. Some through words, others through actions. Ganun ata most guys eh. :)

Very, very sweet Ms. Toni! That’s true. Most of the time, that simple act is more than enough than buying expensive gifts noh? nothing compares from a DIY than the one that is ready made that you have to purchase it na lang…
