Pancakes and Bacon Ice Cream from Sebastian’s

This is how Sebastian’s describes their newest ice cream flavor:

“Fluffy BUTTERMILK PANCAKE ICE CREAM garnished with crisp CANDIED BACON and soft PANCAKE CHUNKS soaked in Maple Syrup!”

Did anyone say bacon? Mmmmm. I’ve seen bacon ice cream being prepared a lot on Top Chef episodes, so I was glad I could finally taste it in ice cream. With pancakes too. Breakfast ice cream, anyone?

I trooped to Sebastian’s with my ID as this was another guess-the-flavor contest I won. The clue: breakfast. Nothing could be more “breakfasty” than pancakes and bacon! Well, there’s tuyo, fried egg and rice but I doubt they’re turning that into an ice cream flavor. After showing the ice cream lady my ID, I got my free scoop.

If you like pancake batter, you’ll be in ice cream heaven with this one. Every spoonful of ice cream was bursting with pancake batter goodness and that frequent pancake chunk. The highlight of this ice cream was the candied bacon though. So good. So so good.

This got mixed reactions though. My Mom and my sister P weren’t big fans. They couldn’t reconcile the savory with the sweet — not with this ice cream. It did make my sister go, “Let’s buy bacon.” Then my Mom went, “Let’s pass by the grocery later.” Okay, we know what’s for breakfast tomorrow.

I loved this ice cream though. This is a happy foodie ice cream.

See the pancake bits soaked in maple syrup? And the bacon bits? Mmm.

One scoop is P95. One pint is P280. Yup, I bought a pint. This is the kind of ice cream that needs to be in the freezer AT ALL TIMES. I bet me and my other sister JJo will be devouring this. (Hating-kapatid ha! Pero tandaan, I’m the older sister! Hehehe.)

Sebastian’s has done it again. Pancakes & Bacon Ice Cream. Who would’ve guessed? Oh wait, yes there’s me and two other winners. I really should start betting on the lotto.
