Magic Pop Popcorn Discs

by

Popcorn is love in all shapes and forms. I’m waiting for Sebastian’s to come out with popcorn ice cream. Mmm. While that’s (hopefully) in the works, here’s another form of popcorn to satisfy our popcorn cravings — popcorn discs!

P39.00 only!

Magic Pop! My mother-in-law and I chanced upon a kiosk at the basement level of Megamall Building B. Magic Pop? It looked like kropek in disc form. Popcorn pitas! My eyes gravitated to “100% natural.” Ows? Talaga? The kiosk’s sign proclaimed the Korean product to have no oil and zero trans fat.

Magic Pop has two sizes — this frisbee-like disc in my pictures, and a much smaller one, perhaps 1/3 of this frisbee. They cost the same — P39.00 at 15 discs to a set. The smaller popcorn disc is just more compact so the discs are harder. Since we had a toddler and a couple of senior citizens in our group, we decided to go for the bigger, “airier” version. Gotta choose teeth-friendly food, you know.

It’s not bad at all. It does taste like popcorn. Popcorn kropek. Popcorn chips. Popcorn nachos. It was crispy, crunchy and quite delicious. We bought the plain variant and were happy with our choice. Other flavors were chocolate , barbecue, strawberry and cheese.

Our plain Magic Pop had a slight sweetness that made the snack mildly addicting. Did it taste 100% natural? I think so. I need to buy another pack to make a conclusion. Foodie palusot.

How does the popcorn get its disc shape? Check out this video from Youtube. A tabletop machine spits out these discs. The ingredients are put into the heated popper, compressed and voila! You’ve got yourself some popcorn cakes. Popcorn discs. Popcorn circles. Popcorn cakes?

I want that machine at home!!!

Have you tried this snack before? If yes, would you recommend the other flavors? It’s got me curious! If you’re a serial snacker, I recommend you try this out. Then let me know what you think!
