Dining at Mr. Choi Kitchen

by

There are a lot of good Chinese restaurants. Then there are some good Chinese restaurants you simply prefer over others. Mr. Choi Kitchen is one of our preferred Chinese restaurants.

Mr Choi Kitchen... not to be confused with HK Choi!

What we like about it is its laid back ambiance and that “Don’t rush me!” feeling it evokes. I’m pertaining to the Robinson’s Pioneer branch in particular. Some Chinese restaurants make me feel like I’m in a fast food — gotta scarf down my food because it’s so noisy and the crowd’s building up. Mr. Choi Kitchen in Pioneer can get really busy, but I don’t feel rushed.

It has the usual Chinese food fare — dimsum, rice toppings, noodles, congees, soups. No surprise there. The flavors are classic, but what we’ve really enjoyed are the following dishes:

I loved this Fish Fillet Toppings order!

and…

Siopao heaven at Mr Choi Kitchen
Asado Siopao

I LOVE their siopao. I’m in asado siopao heaven when I’m at Mr. Choi Kitchen. The dough is always soft and chewy, the filling hot and tasty. I wish I had some right now!

Other dishes we usually order are Hakaw, Chicken Feet and Seafood Spinach Soup. They taste like what you’d get from other Chinese restaurants. It’s nice to have dishes that you can rely on for taste AND comfort. This is Chinese comfort food to me.

Steamed shrimp dumplings aka hakaw. Mmmmm.

Mr. Choi Kitchen claims their dishes don’t have MSG. Sounds good to me! They have branches at Robinson’s Pioneer, Robinson’s Galleria, Robinson’s Place Ermita and Waltermart Makati. I’ve only tried the Pioneer branch so don’t know if the ambiance is the same in other branches.

Happy eating!

I’ve eaten at the branches of Mr Choi Kitchen at Pioneer and Galleria and they do have the same ambiance. I believe it is the seating arrangement that gives the feeling of coziness as well as the dim lighting of the place. Good food is just an added bonus! 😀

I did not have a particularly good experience with Mr Choi the last time we are there… I’ll try out these dishes the next time around.

Daphne: That’s nice to know about their Galleria branch! At least I know I have a reliable place to eat in when I find myself at that mall.

Rye: Oh no! I hope you give them a second chance :)
