BDO Shop More MasterCard: It had me at SM Advantage points

It’s tough to find a credit card that can give you a good deal these days. There’s the battle for the lowest interest rates. There’s the battle for free movie tickets or free miles. This doesn’t really interest me, as I hardly travel nor do I have time to watch movies. Yes, yes, it’s extremely personal and I am really picky. The more attuned to my lifestyle the credit card is, the more I can appreciate it. This is why I’m excited about the BDO Shop More MasterCard. Let me tell you what’s making me get this card.

I’m a big SM fan. Oh yeah. I’m there pretty much once a week. The BDO Shop More MasterCard gives more rewards and shopping value in SM, so if you’re big on SM like I am you may want to check this card out.

First off, it comes with a free SM Advantage Card. PERFECT. I lost mine several years ago and never got to replace it. You can use the SM Advantage Card in SM (Our Home, Toy Kingdom, Watson’s, Kultura – my favorite!, Savemore, etc.) and other SM Advantage Card partner establishments like PLDT, Petron, Taal Vista Hotel. The card is automatically renewed every 3 years together with the renewal of your Shop More MasterCard. No need to go to the Customer Service Counter anymore.

If you’ve used the SM Advantage Card, you know that you get 1 point for every Php200 purchase. These points can be used to redeem items at any SM Advantage partner establishment. With the BDO Shop More MasterCard, you get additional 0.5 point on top of the regular points you got via the SM Advantage Card. More points means more shopping deals.

Do you go to SM’s 3-Day Sale Weekends? Imagine getting a 5% rebate when you spend at least P5,000 during those SM weekend sales. Yup, the BDO Shop More MasterCard gives you an extra discount for purchases made during that sale weekend. Plus, if you shop during the first 2 hours on the first day of the sale, you can get a 10% discount on top of the sale price by simply presenting your SM Advantage Card. You also get to enjoy special discounts at BDO’s partner establishments in SM like Plains & Prints, Executive Optical and Watch Republic. Cool!

Another deal: Membership fee is low – Php75 per month for the Principal and Php50 for the Supplementary cardholder. The fee is waived for the first year.

If you get a BDO Shop More MasterCard between now and June 30, 2012, you can get an instant 15% off on your first purchase in SM Department Store for a minimum transaction amount of Php3,000. Sounds like an exciting way to kick off shopping for family summer gear, don’t you think?
