Avocado Ice Candy, anyone?

by

Raise your hands if you like avocado ice candy! If you don’t have those cylindrical ice candy bags, use your ice cube tray! The little cubes of avocado ice candy make for a yummy snack and an even yummier dessert.

Avocado Ice Candy

Mash an avocado, mix in some milk, add sugar as needed and stir, stir, stir. When you’ve reached your desired consistency, spoon blobs of the avocado mixture into the ice cube tray. I like my mix chunky! Freeze overnight and ta-da! You’ve got avocado ice candy the next day.

I’ve met a bunch of people who cannot marry the concept of the delicious avocado with dessert. They see it as a vegetable, as a great ingredient in salads. But as a dessert, with milk and sugar? Gross! Not to me though, this is one of my all-time favorite treats. I like it in my salads, but I like it even more as dessert.

What about you? Do you eat your avocados for dessert, or do you prefer them in salads? And while you’re pondering the answer to that question, would you like some avocado ice candy? :)

Hi toni! I love eating avocado 😀 a few spoonfulls of nido, some sugar and water. yum! Thanks for posting this, I will try making one for the kids.

Different strokes for different folks :)) There was a time a fil-am lady invited me to her place for dinner and they served it for appetizer! Yikes! Just a plain slice of avocado with bits of fried bacon as toppings. I had a hard time swallowing it down, I tell ya! hahaha.

And in Colombia, they eat it as side dish for the main course, and I even saw my brother-in-law add it to his soup instead. And we had a laugh because their jaw dropped when Hubby told them that I ate it with milk for dessert.

That’s exactly how my dad used to make avocado ice candy for us when we were kids! You’ve made me miss those days. :)

And for that reason, avocado will always be a dessert first, and a veggie second, for me.

That’s exactly how my mom enjoys avocado too. Funny no, how in the Philippines, we see avocado for its dessert potential. Heck, when I first heard about guacamole as a kid, I was shocked. Couldn’t wrap my brain around the idea of a savory avocado.
