Amo Amici!

Amici is one of our favorite Italian restaurants. When I was working in Makati, my officemates and I would take a cab ride over to Amici at the original Don Bosco branch. Their pizzas were always delicious, the pasta amazing, the gelato very memorable. I wrote about their Mango Jubilee gelato back in 2008. I can still recall how wonderful it was!

To celebrate Timmy’s Nursery graduation last month, my family and I headed to Amici at the UP Ayala Technohub. Thank goodness Amici has a lot of branches now! No need to go all the way to Don Bosco. We were craving for some classic, delicious Italian food and that’s what we got!

One of our favorite Amici appetizers is the Calamari Fritti. These fried squid rings are served with a mildly spicy Arrabiatta Sauce.

Salad, anyone? Amici’s Blue Cheese and Pear Salad is so refreshing! The salad has mixed greens and arugula with blue cheese, pear and a dressing of honey vinaigrette.

A visit to Amici isn’t complete without tasting their pizza. We always get the classic Margherita. It’s simply mozzarella cheese and basil, but it’s big on flavor.

A meal out of the home with Timmy always calls for spaghetti. This is Amici’s Spaghetti Pomodoro. It’s a tomato-based pasta dish with Parmesan cheese and basil.

My favorite is the Linguini Amatriciana, but our dish was served with spaghetti pasta. That was funny, perhaps they ran out of linguini, but oh well, we ate it anyway. This tomato-based pasta dish has bacon and prosciutto. It’s very good.

My husband’s favorite is their Pollo Arrostito, baked rosemary chicken served with vegetables. Well, this is what was left of the chicken dish when I got to taking a picture of it!

For dessert, Timmy had a gelato. This one’s Cioccolato, a classic chocolate gelato. I don’t think he liked it very much though because of the bitter chocolate flavor. More for Mommy then! 😛
