What would happen if you just walked away?
Put things into perspective: what would really happen if you just walked away?
What would you lose if you left behind what is hurting you?
You need not stay where you are; there are other places you could occupy, possibly more happily than where you are now.
What keeps you were you are?
If there is nothing, walk away.
If there is something, you will know why you stay.

I’ve had that poem with me for over ten years now. I’m not sure who the author is, so if you know who wrote it please let me know.
I go back to it from time to time when I feel like walking away from a situation. When I encounter friends in the same bind, I share this piece with them.
I’m sharing it with you now, in case it helps illuminate you on something or someone. Take care, dear friend!

May 4, 2010 at 6:55 pm (14 years ago)What a beautiful poem Toni. And that’s a very apt photograph too. If there’s anything I want to walk away from, it will always be the past. Just continue walking through the wonderful present and onwards to the amazing future.
