Weekend Soiree #17: A game of comment interaction

The first rule is easy. I will ask a question. The first person who comments will answer my question, and will leave a question for the next person to answer. This next person will answer that question, and leave a question for the next next person to answer. I am sure you get it! 😉

To make things more fun, the questions have to reflect the chosen theme. For example, if the theme is COLOR, all questions should relate to colors. What color is least like you? If could change the color of the sky right now, what color would it be? As much as possible, let’s not repeat the questions for added fun! You are also welcome to play more than once.

The second rule is very neighborly. After you answer and write a question, visit the person who comments right BEFORE you. If that person does not have a blog, visit any of the commenters’ blogs. When you’re at their blog, leave a comment and some nice cheer. You might make a new friend!

Let’s reminisce with this 17th weekend soiree. Thanks to cbs and Cookie for this idea.

The theme: CHILDHOOD

My question for Person #1: Did you have any special nickname as a child?

For outdoor games I enjoyed “patentero”, “agawan base” and “piko”. For indoor games, I loved playing jackstones, chinese jackstones, “lutu-lutuan” and I enjoyed making make believe stories with my barbie dolls.

What were some of your favorite cartoons when you were a child that are still loved by kids today?

Voltes V was my favorite. I had the merchandise too (poster, coloring book, pocketbook), even had a plastic Voltes V robot on my birthday cake. My cousin Tin from Cebu even remembers that I introduced her to Voltes V when they came to visit.

What was your favorite game while growing up?

Favorite game as a child? I loved playing “teks,” or those cards that you toss in the air, and wait if they fall face up or face down. If yours fell face up, you won. Winners collect all the cards, and in the process, increase their card collection. The veterans have thousands of cards in their possession. Though I was an average player, I liked the game because I got to collect a variety of cards with my favorite comics superheroes in them.

Did you like eating veggies when you were a kid?

My bestfriend when I was a kid was an Indian girl named Naimet Pabaney. We used to call her Nena. One afternoon my Lolo saw her approaching the house. He called to the cucinera and said “Isyang, itago mo yung fruitcake at andyan na si bumbay. Uubusin na naman yan!” Needless to say, she loved fruitcake especially when my Lolo would splash some brandy on it. And to think we were in only in 3rd grade then.

Question : Who was your favorite superhero when you were a kid?

    PS

thanks for the mention, Toni 😀

I remember my Mom trying to make me drink a spoonful of medicine. I was too hardheaded so she threatened me with:

“Do you want to drink this medicine or stand in the corner?”

I chose to stand in the corner.

Hehehe. My mother was not amused.

    I think I was 3.

Oh I had two crushes. 1. My kababata, Donnie, who is 3 years my senior. We grew up together in the same compound. We go to the same church. We hang around each other’s house, but he mostly went to mine. He was the closest boy friend I’ve had back then. Then there’s this other guy (also older) whose name I forgot! He was so tall and handsome (tisoy kind of handsome) and super sweet. He used to visit me at my house in the weekends just to know how I was doing. We didn’t go to the same church so we didn’t see each other often. He used to tease me to wait for him so he can be my boyfriend when I grow up.

Donnie is still my friend now. Our families are good friends and we go to the same church in Pinas. Every time I see him, I laugh at myself and think, was he really my childhood crush? lol

The other guy I haven’t seen after high school.

I had this red tri-cycle which I navigated around our little village until I was chased by a dog, got bitten and abandoned all idea of using my lil bike again. Btw by tri-cycle I don’t mean the ones we have here that charge a fortune, my little red bike had 3 wheels thus i call it tri-cycle 😀

Is there something you believed in when you were a child only to discover much later in life that it was merely some story made up by your parents to amuse you?

I thought that if you immersed clay in water overnight, it would turn into an eraser. Hellowwww! My parents didn’t teach me that though. Hahaha. I can’t think of anything they made up for my amusement.

Were you more of a leader or follower as a kid?
