If you haven’t seen Episode 3 of Top Chef All Stars, read no further as this post contains spoilers. If you’re a fellow Top Chef fan, I’d love to hear what you think of this episode!
Random thoughts about the episode:
So I still can’t get over how appalling Jen’s behavior was last episode. But oh well. Moving on!
Oooh David Chang. Casey says he’s a “badass” chef. He looked it! I’ve read about him in Bourdain’s book. The way Bourdain described him in his book was pretty awesome. I want to eat at Momofuku!
“Stephen you know is Stephen. He’ll be able to open a bottle of wine for us.” — Spike. Ha! Well, their team won the Quickfire so good for all of them, especially Stephen. No wine required.
Loved the way Fabio smashed his garlic. BOOM!
I loved the 2nd half of the Quickfire challenge. Can you create a decent lamb dish in 15 minutes or less? Apparently you can. Blais’ team’s crispy lamb chops look really good. I love artichokes and I appreciate lamb so their dish I definitely want to try.
The Elimination Challenge sounded absolutely exciting. Each team dined at an award-winning chef’s elite NY restaurant as an insider, and they were asked to create a dish that the chef would be proud to put in their menu.
Two chefs are to be eliminated? Tsk. Fabio’s expression was priceless. I was hoping he wouldn’t get eliminated because he’s the most entertaining of the lot!
Carla seemed so concerned about her food not being Wiley Dufresne’s style. I do remember her winning a Quickfire during her season though. She made green eggs and ham, and Wylie chose her dish as the winner. Gosh, I can’t remember where I placed my glasses but I remember Top Chef trivia like this.
Tre said some people call him the “Black Italian.” Love it!
I loved how Angelo’s dish looked. It looked like Christmas on a plate.
“I want to stay true to who I am and be inspired by Wylie.” — Dale T. I want to eat Dale’s dish up. Breakfast in a bowl. I love his idea of a sunny side up dumpling.
The Top 4 were Dale, Antonia, Tre and Angelo. Winner gets a 6 nite trip to New Zealand. Wow! I’m thinking Dale or Angelo’s gonna win. DALE WINS! YES!!! Doesn’t Dale look like John Lloyd Cruz? It’s nice to see Dale smile.
When the Bottom 4 were called to Judges table, Carla said “Fight hard but not too hard.” Antonia adds, “Don’t pull a Jen.” Oooh. Is that line going on a T-shirt?
Worst dishes belonged to Stephen, Tiffani, Dale and Fabio.
“I think there’s a fine line between homage and parody.” — Bourdain, about to desribe Tiffany’s parody of a dish
I thought Fabio and Tiffany were going, but I totally got it wrong. Stephen and Dale are going home. Noooooooo not Dale please.
Fave line: “Maybe I’ll come back for Top Chef 16 Seniors.” — Dale L.
Next ep: US Open! Bleeding finger! Is it Jamie’s again? Will she ditch her team again? We’ll see!
The dish I would have loved to eat up: Definitely Dale’s. It did look like a great breakfast dish that I’d eat anytime of the day.
