The Great Interview Experiment

by

A few weeks ago, I stumbled upon the blog Citizen of the Month, with a post called “The Great Interview Experiment.” The essence of the entry is that everybody is somebody. Neil Kramer, the blog owner, cites that only famous people get to be interviewed. Check out talk shows. Guests are usually on to promote something or because of something grand they did. What if you haven’t accomplished anything on that scale?

And so he starts this simple interview experiment. Leave a comment on his post, and you’ll get to be interviewed by the person who comments right before you do. The experiment started in January ’08 and has generated 559 comments as of today. What I like about it is that it’s not a tag, and that whoever interviews you is most likely not within your regular blogging circle. Therefore, you get to meet new bloggers and get fresh questions.

I interviewed Mountain Mama, a wonderful blogger who writes well and posts lovely pictures of her cute little boy. Today, I got my interview questions from Liz R, a mom of two who’s into knitting.

My interview with Liz falls after the jump. I do agree with Neil Kramer that everybody is somebody. So why not participate in his great interview experiment? Meet new folks and make this world even smaller. :)

My Interview with Liz:

1. Why did you start your blog? (Wifely Steps)
I started the blog as a way to chronicle my experiences as a newlywed. I hoped that the things I learned would help fellow new wives adjust to married life. The purpose of my blog remains the same today — to connect and help others through my own experiences in the wife life.

2. How long have been married? What do you think of it??
I’ve been married for four years and ten months. I love being married. It’s definitely not easy, but it’s definitely fun, fun, fun.

3. Do you live in the Phillippines?? Ae you a native or a transplant? What do you like and dislike about it?
Yup, I live in the Philippines. I was born here, raised here. I love a lot of things about my country — the cuisine, the tropical weather, the warmth and hospitality of Filipinos. What I dislike about it is the messy political arena and the lack of enforcement in traffic! What a headache.

4. Does housework (cooking, cleaning, shopping, etc.) come easily for you? Does your husband help at all?
Housework does NOT come easy for me at all. I love buying things for the home to make it more organized. I love going to the grocery to stock up our fridge and cupboard. BUT I’m not a good cook or cleaner at all. I’ve been on cooking hiatus for the longest time. As for cleaning, I do it because who wants a messy house? I do not enjoy it but I have to keep my home spick and span. My husband helps out in his own way. And he’s a much better cook than I am!

5. What does you husband think of your blog? does he participate in it or read it regularly?
My husband supports my blogging. He understands how it is very much therapy for me — he’s always known about my love for writing. He doesn’t leave comments, but he does visit once in awhile. He also gives me ideas for entries.

6. Do you have any children/do you want children??
We do not have any kids, but we do want to build a family soon. We’re very excited about it.

7. What books, television and movies do you enjoy?
I read a variety of books, but my favorite lately has been Young Adult fiction. They’re easy reads but not too juvenile. I love watching The Office on TV! Comedies are the way to go. After a stressful day at work, the last thing I’d want to watch is a suspense thriller. Uh-uh. As for movies, I watch anything except horror.

8. What do you do for a living?
I work as a strategic planner in the advertising industry.

9. I love Swiffer too!! Are there any other products that you love?? Please share!
Here are some products I love (note that some of them are local to the Philippines!):
– For cleaning: Clorox Wipes. Mr. Clean Eraser Bar. Mr. Muscle Mold and Mildew Killer.
– For drinking/eating: Granny Goose Tortilla Chips. Tostitos Salsa. Del Monte Fit ‘n Right. Ligo sardines.
– For beauty: The Body Shop Vitamin E facial wash. Victoria’s Secret Heaven-something Body Wash (sorry, forgot the name!). Bath & Body’s Raspberry line.

10. What do you hope to get out of participating in this Interview Project?
I want to track how the experiment evolves, but the more immediate benefit is getting to meet new bloggers like you!

Thanks for the interview Liz!
