Total Number of Films I own on DVD and Video:

Truth? I don’t know. I don’t buy DVDs or VHS tapes — my husband does! So maybe I should go ask him…

The Last Film I Bought:

Make that the last film H bought. That will be Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory with Gene Wilder. We have yet to see it together.

Five Films Which I Watch A Lot/ Mean A Lot To Me:

1. Before Sunrise. Celine: If there’s any kind of magic in this world, it must be in the attempt of understanding someone, sharing something. I know, it’s almost impossible to succeed, but… who cares, really? The answer must be in the attempt. The film that affirmed my belief in soulmates and never giving up on love.

2. A Walk to Remember. Landon: … so you could be in two places at the same time. The first film H and I watched together; we were just friends then! As we progressed into a deeper friendship, he pulled his own version of Landon’s “two places at the same time” thing. :)

3. Dead Poets Society. John Keating: We don’t read and write poetry because it’s cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for. To quote from Whitman, “O me! O life!… of the questions of these recurring; of the endless trains of the faithless… of cities filled with the foolish; what good amid these, O me, O life? Answer. That you are here – that life exists, and identity; that the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse.” That the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. What will your verse be? One of the first films that moved me deeply.

4. Lost in Translation. Bob: The more you know who you are, and what you want, the less you let things upset you. Simply beautiful.

5. Father of the Bride. George Banks: Don’t forget to fasten your condom! I always try to catch this when it’s on cable! Adorably funny.

Five people I’m passing the baton to:

I’m passing this baton to anyone who HAS NOT SEEN Before Sunset! So to those who haven’t seen it, I tag YOU to answer this meme and to watch that film!

P.S. To Before Sunrise and Before Sunset lovers: A screenplay of both films is being sold at Powerbooks. My Mom got me a copy and *screams* I LOVE it. Thanks Mama! *mwah*

I’ve seen both Before Sunrise and Before Sunset. Agree ako. Great, great films with witty dialogues. There’s one more memorable quote (poem, actually) in Before Sunrise I’m sure you’d like — the one from the street poet:

    Daydream, delusion, limousine, eyelash
Oh baby with your pretty face
Drop a tear in my wineglass
    Look at those big eyes
See what you mean to me
    Sweet-cakes and milkshakes
I’m delusion angel, I’m fantasy parade
I want you to know what I think
Don’t want you to guess anymore
You have no idea where I came from
We have no idea where we’re going
Latched in life, like branches in a river
Flowing downstream, caught in the current
    I’ll carry you
    You’ll carry me
    That’s how it could be
    Don’t you know me?
Don’t you know me by now?
