Memory Crafters: My Sunglasses Pouch

Memory Crafters is a box subscription service where a box of crafting projects is sent to you every month that you can enjoy or give as a gift. Read about my first Memory Crafters project: the Summer Bag This is my 2nd Memory Crafters project.

{My DIY Sunglasses Pouch}

The sunglasses pouch set came with two pieces of yellow canvas cloth, needle, thread and two black strings. There was a set of instructions too. I was a little nervous about the sewing, since that’s one part of crafting I know I’m terrible at. Flashbacks of grade school projects came to me when I was threading the needle. Memories were not quite pleasant.

Good thing the sewing instructions were easy. I just had to sew the 2 pieces of canvas together several times, string it and hurrah! It was ready for painting – my favorite part!

I loved the bold yellow canvas cloth provided. I knew immediately that I wanted a simple black pattern. My son’s toys were once again my inspiration. Out came the tiger from his toy box. It’s also borderline bumblebee because of the black and yellow theme. After the paint dried up, I immediately slipped my sunglasses into the pouch. Hurrah!

Two days later: The yellow and black sunglasses pouch became my mobile phone pouch. Since the bold colors grab my eye easily, my phone no longer gets lost in my bag. All I do is reach for that flash of yellow and hurrah! My mobile phone is in my hand. <3 This was a quick and fun project! I loved painting the pouch. Another realization was that sewing was not as intimidating as I thought it would be. Yey!
