Just when I thought I was done

by

It’s 9 in the evening. The baby is sleeping. Yes! I place him in bed and give him a kiss good night. Finally, me time!

Oh, to put my feet up! Oh, to live out what this book shares!

Oh wait, his nails are getting longer. Let me get the nail trimmer. Snip, snip. Done! Finally, me time!

Oh wait, he’s got a little bite on his arm. Let me grab my first aid gel. Dab, dab. Done! Finally, me time!

Oh wait, there’s laundry on the floor. I might slip on a dirty shirt in the middle of the night. Fold, fold. Done! Finally, me time!

Oh wait, I forgot to turn the mosquito killer on. Crap, it’s downstairs. Let me get it. Trudge, trudge. Plug, click. Done! Finally, me time!

Oh wait, his books are all over the place! I can’t stand the disorder. Pile, pile. Fix, fix. Done! Finally, me time!

Oh wait, he’s stirring in his sleep. The baby wants a midnight snack. Nurse, nurse. Done! Finally, me time!

Oh wait, my husband’s gym clothes haven’t been prepared yet. Are there clean white socks in the closet? Search, search. Yes! Done! Finally, me time!

It’s 1 in the morning. I freak out. Only a couple more hours and I have to wake up for work! I fall asleep.

It’s 5 in the morning. The boys are still sleeping. Finally, me time! I rush to the closet and prepare my clothes for the day. I imagine the feel of a hot, long, luxurious shower in the cold morning. I can’t wait.

Oh wait, the baby is awake! He’s hungry too! I wake my husband up to watch the baby, bolt into the shower for a short bath, get dressed quickly, nurse the baby, leave for work.

Just when I think I have my ME time, something else comes up. I guess ME time will have to wait! :)

Maybe I’ll kick back a little later. Or much later!

i’ve come to the conclusion that “me time” is overrated. “me time” is not about doing nothing. nor is it about doing something for yourself. it’s about doing things you “want” to do, not those you “have” to or “need” to do. it’s a matter of perspective, too. you can be pressing clothes at 11pm, and yet, because everyone’s asleep and all’s quiet, it can be even more relaxing than getting a rush manicure done during lunchbreak.

(aside: you really prepare your husband’s gym clothes?!?)

    Can relate! Haha! 😀

Although I’m relieved that as Rafa grows bigger he also becomes more independent. He can now play on his own and amuse himself without needing as much attention as he used to. So now his play time is my me time: my chance to read, surf, blog, etc…. until he comes toddling up towards me wanting to play with my laptop, hehehe …! 😀

And my friends say that when the kids start school … that’s when you’ll get more me time back! 😀

Hi. Can you tell me more about the mosquito killer? We have lots of mosquitos at home. What is the brand, how does it work, does it work, where is it available?

I love how positive you are of not getting your “me time.” I sometimes feel so restless with the stuff to do in the house.

What kind of mosquito killer do you use? Baygon is useless in our home, thank God for GIGA insect repellent, protected si Una kahit nasa labas ng bahay.

    Thanks Gene!

I use an electric mosquito killer!
