If books were food — the round-up!

If books were food

If books were food, then this carnival would be one indulgent buffet of appetizers.

Thank you to all the wonderful bookworm-foodies who stirred our appetites with their delicious reads. Hosting this carnival was a fantastic experience. I loved reading how bloggers connected two totally unconnected items. The resulting connection was a wonderful feast for avid readers. You guys are so creative! Cheers, cheers!

Here’s the round-up to our If Books Were Food carnival.

Ganns tells us why he thinks the Bible is a buffet. With his description of each book and dish, who wouldn’t want to go back for seconds? [link]

Em shares with us why she thinks JK Rowling is the best chef! If the Harry Potter series were food, they would surely be devoured and celebrated with the grandeur of a five-star restaurant yet also with the intimacy of the food that comforts your heart the most. [link]

Tina takes us into her chicklit cupboard and serves us bowls of kettle corn! Just as popcorn can be addicting, the right chicklit could be too. Read on and try not to be tempted to reach for an extra bowl. [link]

Chinita Jill lays out some interesting food to taste if Special Topics in Calamity Physics were edible, as well as Almost French. Brace yourself for an explosion of flavors! [link]

Junnie shares that books to him are like ice cream. I wonder which ones are vanilla and rocky road then? Also check out how his readers completed the line, “If books were food, _____.” [link]

Dr. Emer sets out a multi-cultural spread for A Thousand Splendid Suns, Passionate Minds: The Great Enlightenment Love Affair, The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, Better: A Surgeon’s Notes on Performance, and Like You’d Understand, Anyway. Of all the choices, the one he describes as Nobu lunch sashimis tempted me the most. 😉 [link]

Mari says, “I would devour books just as I would binge on ice cream.” She lets us take a peek into her love affair with paper and dairy, and how it all began. [link]

Daphne takes us into a detailed description of what foods she associates with the characters of The Unbearable Lightness of Being. Would shy characters be chocolate, and feisty ones spicy? Bring your appetite to the feast she prepares for you. [link]

Tami chooses The Time Traveller’s Wife to be a box of liquor-filled chocolate-covered cherries. Mmmm, sensuous and quite the multi-dimensional dessert — a perfect twin to this novel. Read more about how she likens this dessert to the indulgent complexities of the book. [link]

I, Toni, share with you why Nancy Drew is like dried mangoes and chocolates. I also write about my favorite reads of 2007, and how they would taste if they were food. Most of them have olives too. Yum! [link 1 | link 2]

And there you have it! Hopefully this reading buffet gives you some ideas on what books to feast on this year. Happy eating, happy reading!

Keep the carnivals coming, Toni. I’m a sure participant as long as the topics up my alley. The wedding proposal thing was not. He he.

Thanks for joining when you can Em. 😀 I have something planned for Feb! I’ll just fix up some other stuff before launching it.
