Good mornings with Lemon Water

by

Upon waking up, I get myself a glass of warm water and into it, squeeze the juice of half a lemon. I stir the zesty water, wait for it to cool a little bit, and then sit back on our cozy couch while sipping on my lemon water. This is how my mornings begin.

I’ve always heard that lemon water is good for one’s health. You’ve got your Vitamin C for a stronger immune system. I also read lemon water is one of the best ways to detox your body. It flushes out toxins, helps give you a healthier digestive system, prevents constipation and bloating, is good for weight loss.

The best tip I’ve read so far is to drink a glass of warm lemon water upon waking up. Once I tried it, I became a big lemon-water-in-the-morning fan! Not only does the zesty water wake me up, the warm water soothes me and gets me ready for my day. I treat this morning ritual in a very Zen-like way. I tiptoe out of bed so as not to wake my husband up, prepare my lemon water, then enjoy my solace in the living room. While I sip my drink, I say my prayers and think about the good things for the day. Or sometimes I don’t think at all. I just gaze at the early sun peeking through the window blinds while quietly sipping on my lemon water. After I finish my lemon water, I then go about the rest of my morning preparations. This includes preparing a glass of warm lemon water for H, which he drinks upon waking up.

I suggest you try it out for yourself too! If you have ulcers though, you may want to consult your doctor first. The last thing we’d want is a stomach ache so early in the day!

And while I think that lemon in ice cold water is also delicious, I prefer the relaxing way warm lemon water eases me into the day. I believe that how I kick off my mornings can affect how the rest of my day can go too! And so this is how I like my mornings to begin — warm, relaxing with a little kick. 😉

Haven’t had the time to blog about it but I bought a jar of Honey Lemon tea during the last WOFEX. Haven’t opened by bottle but the free taste we were given during the fair was lovely. I’ve a feeling it probably tastes close to your lemon water, with a slight sweetness of course. It’s available in jars as a jelly-like thing. I’ll try to take a pic this week to show you :D, I’ve a feeling you’ll like it.

    that’s a pretty nice ritual.

    mine is like this:
    *alarm goes off*
    Slam!
    back to sleep.
    *alarm goes off again*
    Slam!
    back to sleep

I go through this a couple of times, atleast, every morning.

except during the weekend when i sleep to my heart’s content. =)

hi toni! aba, pareho tayo. gawain ko rin ito esp. if i have to wake up so early in the morning. it gives me that extra “zing” to waking up refreshed & full of energy, eager to start the day. kesa naman yung mabigat ang katawan mo kapag gigising ka. 😆

First of all, i have to say that i can totally relate to the comment posted by G. I’m exactly like that every morning. I think i usually wake up an hour after my alarm goes off. haha.

As for lemon water, I love drinking it after a cup of coffee. Something I learned from French Baker. When you order their Tsibo coffee (P48! cheap!), you get a butter cookie or brownie on the side and a small glass of iced lemon water. Yum. :)
