Fried Mac and Cheese

I’m a sucker for anything mac and cheese, so seeing this on the menu of Friday’s got me interested! Fried Mac and Cheese anyone?

This was served as an appetizer. I started eating it with a knife and fork, but my husband pointed out it would be more enjoyable to use our hands. True that. They made interesting finger food. Mac and cheese and fingers don’t really connect, right? It worked though.

It tasted like macaroni and cheese were shaped into squares, coated in bread crumbs, dipped in egg, rolled in bread crumbs again then deep-fried. I’m not sure about the recipe, but that’s what it tasted like. The Fried Mac and Cheese squares were served with marinara sauce. It complemented the mac and cheese really well!

I liked that the mac and cheese was creamy, and that the coating was crunchy. Taste-wise, I wasn’t in Mac and Cheese heaven. I guess I was expecting to go “Oooh! So that’s what fried mac and cheese tastes like!!!” but I just went “Oh, so that’s what fried mac and cheese taste like.”

As for me, if I have leftover mac and cheese, I’ll just stick ’em in a microwave. I guess fried mac and cheese isn’t for me. I’ll stick with the classic!
