For Bookworms

by

I’ve created a new page on my sidebar called “My Bookshelf”. This page is dedicated to my love for reading. Here I share the titles of the books I’m currently reading, the books that are hanging out by my nightstand (and various parts of our home) waiting to be read, my recommended readings, my wish list and a space for you to leave your recommendations.

Hop on over to my bookshelf! Let’s share our love for books with each other. And be sure to check back from time to time for updates.

I didn’t know you liked Frasier. That’s one of my favorite TV shows of all time, but oddly enough I never liked Frasier Crane. Niles and Marty were more interesting.

And Judy Blume is love! But I didn’t like Summer Sisters, her adult novel (or has she written more than one?)

Hi, gurl! missed blogging coz i am super busy. anyway, my taste in books is very eclectic. but after going to Duke’s blog, i suddenly got the urge to hunt for Sharon Shinn’s novels. I read her second novel, ARCHANGEL, and I was a fan. Her novels are fantasy (which i am not a fan of) but the way she suspends disbelief is incredible. Her stories basically challenges us by posting the question “what will happen when man and angels live together”…nice!

    i’m all alone nga pala…hikbi.

What an interesting list. Thanks for sharing. It’s great timing ‘coz I can’t decide on what book I’ll buy next. I want to try reading Judy Blume. I’m a fan of Og Mandino and Mitch Albom’s novels.

woops, i just realized i submitted a comment under your “my recommendations” list on your bookshelf. sorry! i meant to post here. thanks for the comment on my jacket! anyway, to post again, for the benefit of yourself and others, if you’re a prolific reader check out librarything.com. i totally love it because i can have a database of the books i’ve read or want to read and i can rate them and write reviews and put the date of when i read them and look at other people’s libraries etc. i sound like an ad but i think its such a great concept. its really addicting though!

you have a cute blog and i’ll defintely be back again!

hi toni, i started writing this on the recommendations form, but i got so carried away and just decided to add my recommendations here as a comment 😀 it’s not a secret that i love books, too. they’re my warp zones from this otherwise normal existence, hehe!

i just finished reading ‘A Brave New World’ by aldous huxley. you might want to try it. super better than orwell’s 1984, though it’s along the same lines (paradise-engineering) :)

have you heard of alan lightman? my fave book of his is called einstein’s dreams.

i was hooked a while back with the vampire chronicles of both anne rice (medyo sossy) and sherrilyn kenyon (medyo bakya, hehe, but i still liked it!).

my fave essayists are annie dillard (pilgrim at tinker creek) and diane ackerman (a natural history of love).

i also love f. sionil jose’s books and krip yuson’s essays. i’m going to bring back copies of these to the US when i come home to pinas this december. :)

also, you have a great wish list! i saw Flowers for Algernon there, it brought back memories (hehe!). i think i read that when i was about 13 or 14. seriously, read that one! :)

and of course you know i’m an ayn rand fan. :) pablo neruda’s my fave poet, once you read ‘Love’ you won’t wait to read his Odes to Common Things. :)

i also liked ‘a history of love’ by nicole krauss. it’s actually the ‘long-story’ of her short-story which was published in the New Yorker :) i have that in hardback (as well as some of the books i mentioned above), if you want i can lend them to you if we ever get to meet in manila :) i know you’ll take care of them :)

uhhmmm, eat shoots and leaves, not so much (sorry!)

    etc etc! 😀

anyway, mahaba na ito. i’ll just add some more later :) happy reading, toni!
