Comfort is a blue bowl

I have a favorite bowl at home and it is colored blue. Whether it’s breakfast of corned beef with eggs and rice, a quick snack of M&M’s, or an indulgent dessert of fruit salad, my favorite companion would be this blue bowl. My husband’s a given, of course. 😀

Plates are still a must-use for meals together with H, and so I take out my blue bowl whenever I’m eating by myself. I love how comforting its color is, and how it warms me when I cup it with my hands.

One time I came home so stressed out from work. I walked quickly to the cupboard, took out the blue bowl, filled it up with some food and I felt immensely better. Whatever I eat from this bowl immediately soothes me.

There’s only one blue bowl at home. In fact, I stumbled upon this blue bowl in the office. It was abandoned by someone who had resigned a long time ago, and after confirming that nobody else had adopted this blue bowl and getting the blessing of our custodian, I took it home.

H has also learned to appreciate how comforting it is. There have been several instances when he’d call from work and say, “Wifey, can I have noodle soup when I get home? And I want it in the blue bowl please.” And I’d go, “But I’m eating ice cream from it right now!” And he’d go, “Please?” Let’s just say whoever’s holding the blue bowl at home is the one who needs more comforting! This is why even if it’d be good to have two blue bowls at home, we’d rather keep it to this one little blue bowl.

Do you have a favorite plate or bowl that gives you a similar kind of comfort? This is mine. I love it. Right now I’m already imagining frozen fruit salad nestled in that blue bliss. Ah, comfort is my blue bowl indeed.

this will sound kinda gross but still… when tenants moved out of our apartment, i found this orange plastic glass (huh?) that I kept for my own use (so imagine if they weren’t using it for drinking diba?)

that was over a decade ago…anyway, I alone drank from that glass

and when I got married…it took me months before I took that glass in my marital home (diba we’re living just beside my parents’ home), when I really felt na that was my home na…

and hubs way of making lambing sometimes is asking if he can take a sip from it, or use it to drink whatever :)

Er, medyo gross. Hahaha. Pero okay lang, abandoned din naman itong blue bowl ko!

Looks like that bowl is very functional. I don’t have a particular favorite bowl but I do have a favorite glass that I use everyday.

Super functional! I use it to store ingredients also when I’m doing some quick cooking. 😀

Mine is the Mickey Mouse plate! I took it home when we went to HK Disney. Just like Rach and Jeany, I also have fave glass! :)

Ang cute, Mickey Mouse plate! I have a Star Wars plate din pala, pero mas type ko ‘tong blue bowl.

i do have a favorite mug, and it perks me up every morning for my coffee. 😉
by the way, nakakainggit ang sardinas na topping sa kanin sa first pic…matagal na ‘ko di nakakain ng sardinas…parang may maghahanap ng sari-sari store mamya! 😉

Haha! Yeah, that’s another comfort food. Ligo sardines sauteed in oil and onions. Mmmmm. Then drizzle the tomato sauce over the rice and season with soy sauce and calamansi! Sarap!

You’re like my bro-in-law. He has a favorite orange bowl which he eats from all the time…and I mean..ALL THE TIME. One time my MIL sent us food in that bowl and it stayed with us for a week. Naku, he was so mad. Nawawalan daw siya ng ganang kumain :)

Me, I have a favorite green mug that was a giveaway from a drug company. It’s huge and I have my coffee, tea, and hot water there. I take it everywhere. So far he’s been to Singapore, Malaysia, US, Tagaytay, Subic, Palawan, Bulacan, Laguna, and some Manila hotels). My husband thinks its weird but sometimes I catch him using it naman :)

Ah! So I can relate to your bro-in-law! But he’s more attached to his favorite bowl than I am.

Ang galing naman ng mug mo, mas well-traveled pa sa akin. Hahaha!

i have something quite similar to your bowl, but mine would be a mug that i use with every hot or cold beverage and even food sometimes. and i like using bowls over plates, don’t know why though. probably because tamad akong maghugas ng dishes, hehehe 😉

Ah! Yes, that constant mug. I think drinking glasses or mugs are more common to have stronger ownership over. Perhaps because we drink more than we eat? Or perhaps they’re more constantly by our side than meals? :) It’d be nice to have that hot steaming of coffee just beside us all the time!

I have no favorite bowl, but my plates/bowls match whatever mood I’m in. I have flowery ones if I’m feeling perky, plain ones for just staying in, and square ones when I feel like artsy. Hehe :)

Aww! How nice to have different sets of plates or bowls according to your mood. That’s cute! So… how moody are you? Will I be able to tell by the range of bowls you have in your cupboard? 😀

I have favorites but they end up not being used a lot because I like them looking new. But I use them when I take photos and we have guests over for lunch/dinner/merienda. I do have comfort mugs!

I love the plates and bowls you feature in your blog! They’re so quirky!

Hubby and I have a few sets of drink glasses, but there’s this one na walang ka-pair. It’s a large breakable plastic one, which we share. For some reason over Pizza or whatnots we prefer that One, over the babasagin glasses that we have! It doesn’t bring pure comfort or what, but for an unknown reason we just like using it. :)

I know the feeling, marie! While there are lots of other fancy glasses we can use, there’s always that one particular (sometimes peculiar) one that stands out for us the most!
