A Sunday Tag: The Food Meme

Got this one from Shephard. Another meme? Yes, another meme. These questions were fun to answer! I’d like to read your answers too!

How do you like your eggs? Sunny side up, over easy. Sometimes I mix in some ketchup and eat it with pan de sal. Mmmmmm.

How do you take your coffee/tea: Coffee: Freshly brewed. One sugar. One cream. Tea: Plain. Sometimes with milk. If I’m in Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, I order the English Breakfast Tea Latte.

Favorite breakfast foods: Fried garlic rice, sunny side up egg, tuyo (dried and salted fish) and tomatoes with soy sauce.

Peanut butter: smooth or crunchy? Crunchy! Extra crunchy is also good.

What kind of dressing on your salad? I love Sonya’s dressing but since I only have that when I’m at her restaurant, I’ll stick with ranch.

Coke or Pepsi? Coke.

You’re feeling lazy. What do you make? A peanut butter sandwich.

You’re feeling really lazy. What kind of pizza do you order? Shakey’s, Garlic and Cheese with extra anchovies and pineapples. Or if their line is busy, a Pepperoni Pizza from Pizza Hut.

You feel like cooking. What do you make? I’d probably just saute some onions, mix in a can of corned beef, grab a plate of rice and ta-da! I’m good to go.

Do any foods bring back good memories? Yes, I’d request my (late) grandpa to cook his wonderful pancit with tofu and creamy sauce. He’d cook it and it would always be great. Everytime I praised his cooking he would break into a big toothy smile and his eyes would crinkle up. Wonderful memories.

Do any foods bring back bad memories? Ah, when I was in gradeschool, I’d eat my breakfast in the school bus. I had a corned beef sandwich once and when I arrived in school, I wanted to throw up. I don’t know if it was the motion of the bus that made my tummy do cartwheels, but it only worked that way with that specific sandwich. Go figure. Now I don’t eat corned beef sandwiches as much as possible.

Do any foods remind you of someone? Rye bread reminds me of my mom, green mangoes with patis reminds me of my Dad, cookies remind me of sister #1, peaches remind me of sister #2.

Is there a food you refuse to eat? Ox’s brain. I tried it twice and I swore both times I wouldn’t try it again. I am intent on keeping that second promise.

What was your favorite food as a child? Fried chicken with fried potato wedges.

Is there a food that you hated as a child but now love? Spinach.

Is there a food that you loved as a child but now hate? Nope.

Favorite fruit & vegetable: I don’t have a favorite fruit. I like them all! But okay let’s go with apples for fruits and kangkong for vegetables.

Favorite junk food: Nachos with salsa and cheese. Coke. Popcorn.

Favorite between meal snack: A piece of gum.

Do you have any weird food habits: If there is a number of dishes on the table, I have to get from each one of them even if I don’t like a dish. Why? I “pity” the dish that wasn’t touched. Weird, I know. It’s just that there’s food on the table, people lovingly prepared it for you, the least you can do is partake of it. Yeah my compassion is a bit weird sometimes.

You’re on a diet. What food(s) do you fill up on? Singkamas.

How spicy do you order Indian/Thai? Not too spicy, not mild. Just right, Baby Bear.

Can I get you a drink? Sure. A Cosmopolitan would be great. Or a Martini with two olives. Or a bottle of Red Horse. Bring it on!

Red wine or white? Red please.

We only have beer: Red Horse.

Favorite dessert? Mmm… panna cotta. Crème brulee.

The perfect nightcap? A bowl of Tom Yum Goong.
