I love my new glasses!

by

With my new glassesI’ve been wearing eyeglasses since I was in third grade. The first day I wore glasses to school, I endured a LOT of teasing. Looking back, I can’t believe how cruel some people can get! And I can’t believe how easily riled up I got when teased “Haha you look like a grandma!,” “Oh look it’s Four Eyes!” and stuff like that. I wonder how many of those taunters are wearing glasses now.

So eyeglasses have been a huge part of my life for twenty years. I can’t see without my glasses. When my vision became worse and my lenses became heavier, I turned to contact lenses. Eyeglasses were worn only at home or on days when I was super stressed out at work. They were functional only, never stylish for me. I just wasn’t comfortable wearing them outside the house.

But that changed this week! Finally, I found my favorite pair after twenty years! When I saw these red frames at the optical, I knew they would fit well. I tried them on and voila! The eyeglasses were a good fit and I loved the red. They instantly add color to my face. I spend less time in the morning getting ready because putting on contacts usually takes awhile for me. But now, I just put these red babies on and ta-da!

Obviously I’m love with my new red glasses. πŸ˜€ I’ve come a long way from those huge grandma-like specs I had in third grade. So if anyone taunts me, well, I won’t feel bad a tad bit. I feel confident and happy with my new red specs. :)

Thanks to Daddy and Mama for buying my very first pair of ginormous eyeglasses when I was ten AND for sponsoring these lovely red frames today too! πŸ˜› Love you Mama and Daddy!

I started wearing glasses in fourth grade and I got teased a lot about it, too. I looked pretty owlish in my ginormous frames and was so happy when I was finally allowed to get contact lenses. Now I’m looking forward to Lasik surgery so I won’t have to bother with either!

Good luck with Lasik! :) It crossed my mind to get the surgery several months ago but I don’t have the guts yet. πŸ˜›

You already know my eyeglasses history. And I’ve never wear contacts. =) My previous frame looks like that. But it was brown. It’s so chica, ‘no? When I had it in 2006 I was feeling so fashionista. Haha.

i guess kids are kinder nowadays? or more kebs? hehehe.

my daughter just got glasses recently too (because of nearsightedness). [she’s in third grade, so pareho kayo toni hehehe] i was anxious for her na baka her classmates will tease her, thinking na iba na ang generation ngayon (okay i feel old bigla). pero well, buti naman eh hindi luhaan nung umuwi. hehehe.

Haha baka more kebs! Mas open-minded na sila ngayon eh!

Buti nalang din! No teasings for your little one. I remember I cried pa nga eh. Haha!

I think you look cute in those new pair of eyeglasses.

My eyes easily get tired now, I really think I need one too.

Thanks Rach! :) Oh, do get your eyes refracted! And my previous lenses were 5 years old. Definitely time for a change.

I got my first pair of glasses at 18. My dad put it down that I started a job in IT. At first I didn’t like it, but now I love glasses! I find men who wear glasses incredibly sexay! I love your glasses too :) Very much like mine. Mine’s purple ^_^ Go us four eyes!

You look good in those glasses, Toni.

I remember a while back I went to my eye doctor, begged her to give me prescriptions on glasses just so I can wear one! But she wouldn’t, she said if I wanted them I can ask for reading glasses only, which I did, bought a pink pair, but ended up returning them coz they gave me terrible headaches!

    Thanks Gracie!

Oh lucky you for having 20/20 vision! I’d rather have that than the most beautiful pair of eyeglasses money can buy.

    Hi Toni.

For my part, I’ve always wanted to wear glasses when I was younger. I thought it was really cool to do so but (un)fortunately for me at that time and until now, I still have 20/20 vision! I don’t regret not having glasses, looking back. I only appreciate that I don’t need it now.

I was dependent on my eyeglasses for 23 years until I had LASIK. My classmates call me Miss Tapia then and they sometimes try my glasses. I miss having those trendy glasses but I guess I’m happier that I don’t need to wear them anymore.
