Popcorn! Yey!

by

Want some?

Who doesn’t smile when they hear the word “popcorn”? It’s like not getting even the slightest bit giddy when you hear the words “cotton candy,” “chocolate ice cream” or “green mangoes with bagoong.” Right? Popcorn is a universal smile trigger!

Lightly buttered popcorn. Microwaved though. It’s been a long time since I’ve eaten popcorn popped the non-microwave way. I like my popcorn with just a little bit of butter. But give me a pack of Goldilocks caramel popcorn anytime! I’m good with that too.

Note: Oh my gosh! I just learned I’m Michele’s Site of the Day! *screams and runs around spreading popcorn everywhere* To those who’ve arrived in my humble abode via Michele’s, you get a virtual bag of popcorn! Yipee!

Lightly Buttered Popcorn

I watched Season 1 of “Lost” this weekend with a bowl of popcorn on my lap. Yummmmmmy. Um, the popcorn, not the stars. Well, okay Matthew Fox and Josh Holloway are yummy too.

I love those lazing around moments. They’re the kind of recharging I exactly need before the busy work week comes again. Burp. I finished the whole bowl by myself. It was that good.

My cousin likes hers with lots of cheese powder. My friend’s Mom showers her popcorn with MSG. Others like theirs lightly salted, others unadulterated.

If we were to watch a movie together, what kind of popcorn would you get? And while we’re at it, what movie would you want to watch?

I eat popcorn nearly every night – and you just reminded me that I didn’t do it tonight. Bah, too late now. I love the microwave kind that Pop Secret has called movie theater popcorn, with butter and salt already in it.

As to the movie? I’m waiting for Da Vinci to come out on DVD.

OMG, I love Popcorn! It’s the 5th food group! Love it. I can’t watch a movie without popcorn… it’s almost Pavlovian. Movie = popcorn. I have to tell myself to pace myself each night… did I have popcorn last night? Oh. I’ll wait a day or so. Otherwise, I’d be like a goldfish, belly-up with popcorn. :)

Fun post! Thanks for the cyberpopcorn. :)

Extra butter. It’s not great popcorn unless your elbows are all nasty when the bowl is finally empty.

Greetings from Michele’s, by the way.

And now, thanks to you and your post, I’m going to the kitchen to make some popcorn.

An ’80s teen movie please (The Breakfast Club!) with very cheesy popcorn (as Keith Mars says, “I’m a fan of the orange powder”) and lotsa melted butter!

Plain popcorn please. A really fun way to make popcorn is to spread a huge sheet on the floor, put an electric frypan in the middle and pop it in the pan with the lid off.

What a great looking site you have! I love the photo and, I too, love popcorn! I recently bought one of the stove-top poppers with the hand-crank and we love it! It’s hard to eat microwaved after that.

Congrats on being Michele’s site of the day. Enjoy your fame and fortune!

Ooooh! Popcorn! Mmmm. We use an air popper, which just isn’t the same as stove-top/campfire-top popcorn. Lately we’ve eaten it naked (low-cal snack), though I prefer it with a touch of butter & salt. Love the cheesey stuff too, but it’s too darn fattening! As for the movie… hmm. How about a romantic comedy? Crossing Delancey is a fave for me. Yes that would be lovely.

Congrats on being Michele’s site du jour! Enjoy your day…

    Hello, Michele sent me!

Regretfully, ever since I was pregnant with my daughter (now 5), I can’t stomach popcorn, especially the smell of movie popcorn. I have to run past the concession stands every time we go to the movies.

Love your blog – I’ll be back for more! :)

Hey, congratulations, Toni! :) I’m here from Michele’s today, though I drop by other times too. 😉

I loooove popcorn. Especially the classic buttery salty good kind. I have gotten out of the habit of eating it though somehow, now that I think about it. I think when I got my wisdom teeth out and was forbidden to eat anything that might get me into trouble (those sharp little hard kernel-husks, you know) I stopped eating it, and then it just hasn’t really occurred to me to get back into it.

…But now I want to go to the movies and sit in a frosty auditorium and eat hot buttered popcorn and calories be damned. :)

    Here from Michele’s today.

I like kettle corn, I love the combo of salt & sweet. I like adventure movies with a real good looking hero, like “The Mummy” movies (Brendan Fraser and Oded Fehr) or “Van Helsing” (Hugh Jackman) or, of course, the “Pirates” movies.

Yum! Thanks for the popcorn! And you fixed it just the way I like it — salted with butter. Mmmmm… At my house, it’s just become easier to use the microwave popcorn, and we really enjoy Act II Movie Butter (or something like that). But my husband (happy birthday to him today, by the way) is a popcorn NUT, so for Christmas, my sister got him one of those steel popcorn poppers with the turn-crank. De-LICIOUS!

Congrats on Site of the Day — glad Michele ‘introduced’ us! Your site is FABULOUS!

I always make my popcorn fresh from the stove. LOL. I use ghee instead of butter for oil. And add salt when about to serve. Simple and easy, just the way my boys like them.
