What I Learned During My Vacation

by
  • Cooking pasta for one is not possible for me. I always end up making extra portions.
  • Watching TV all day isn’t my thing anymore. I tried it yesterday and I wanted to scream in boredom.
  • Mashed potatoes shaped into little orbs can fall apart when you try to fry them. You end up with one giant mashed potato pancake. Still delicious but it looked weird. Maybe I should’ve used something to hold it together?
  • Rosy cheeks can make all the difference. Try Bench’s Pretty When Pinched liquid blush.
  • When you’re feeling down, wear heels. I don’t mean little kitten heels! I’m talking high heels. The extra height gives you a boost of confidence.
  • Home really is where my husband is.
  • :)

  • Regalong Pambahay has awesome bead jewelry. They’re not featured in the website though.
  • I missed out on the interior design gene. I think I have the clutter gene and the semi-obsessive cleaning gene, but noooo, that gene of style has eluded me. I have no idea how I’m going to decorate our new place. I’ve gotten some ideas in magazines and websites but I’m still totally, totally clueless.
  • Patience rewards. One New Year’s resolution is to be more patient. My patience has been tested severely several times in the first 27 days of this new year. I’ve broken down maybe once or twice. It’s not an easy resolution to keep! But I’ve seen what difference breathing in and out can make so I’ll continue trying to be more patient.

January’s coming to a close! My, the first 1/12th of the year went by so fast.

And ooh, I’ve been tagged by Iska.

10 Random and Weird Things About Me:
(Ok, qualifier. Some people think these are weird but I don’t think they are. 😉 )

  1. I like having powdered Milo as a sandwich filling.
  2. I also put it on rice.
  3. I can’t make the rolling “r” sound.
  4. I stopped growing taller when I was 14 years old.
  5. I remember dropping a santol on my sister’s head to see if it would bounce.
  6. When I was in 4th grade, I had my Mom, my grandma or our household help finish up my sewing and crocheting projects.
  7. In my whole life, I have fainted only once. Lack of sleep!
  8. Even if I’m a romantic, there is no “the one who got away” for me.
  9. I prefer silver to gold.
  10. To relax I like creating artwork on MS Paint.

on weekends my eldest would sit in front of the tv with a mug mix of milo/ovaltine, milk and sugar, but no water! he’d drink the water afterwards, kasi pareho narin daw yun. when i was a kid (do i remember that far back?) i used to have sugar sandwiches. i think i’ll take you up on that heels when down thing. i only have one pair of high heels, and right now i’m too fat and clumsy to wear them but i’ll try anyway. :)

JO : With a little salt? That’s the 1st time I heard of that concoction! :)

bambit : Hahaha that’s cute logic! And yes, do try the high heels on low days tip. It does wonders for you!

mare : We are a rare breed!

iska : Chippy and ice cream as palaman? Wow! That is weird but it sounds strangely… yummy!

Next time send me the remaining pasta! I am sure I will love your pasta and I will keep a bottle of Italian wine in the fridge for the occasion! :-)

      Dear Toni,

Greetings! I saw your comment on the Avenue Q post by Jher. I would have to say that after watching the Tony Awards on cable and saw the performance of the musical’s opening salvo, “What Do I Do With A B.A. in English?”, I went ga-ga over Avenue Q. I waited 2 years for the soundtrack (basically, its because I dont have the means to buy it), but thankfully, Jher is tech-savvy and he downloaded shared files! Now I have the entire compilation and I am loving it! Hope you’d get to hear the songs.

Love your blog! Hope you could link me too…cheers!

hi toni! i’ve been reading your blog for some time now (oh about two weeks) and i’ve been enjoying it! i was going to suggest what jen said, try rolling the potato balls in a beaten egg, coz egg is supposed to be a binder, before you fry it. and about eating milo, my siblings and i used to do that when we were kids. i prefer milo with powdered milk, usually bear brand (no water) but my bro and sis would add other stuff like nescafe, tang, and a little water to make it moist. weird huh?!
