Weekend Soiree #8: A game of comment interaction

by

Find your direction.

The rules are easy. I will ask a question. The first person who comments will answer my question, and will leave a question for the next person to answer. This next person will answer that question, and leave a question for the next next person to answer. I am sure you get it! πŸ˜‰

To make things more fun, the questions have to reflect the chosen theme. For example, if the theme is β€œIce Cream,” all questions should be relate to ice cream. Have you ever used ice cream as an aphrodisiac? Would you rather have your ice cream in a waffle cone or in a sugar cone?? As much as possible, let’s not repeat the questions for added fun! You are also welcome to play more than once!

Hats off to our eighth weekend soiree!

The theme: TRAVEL

My question for Person #1: What’s the farthest you’ve ever gone on foot?

I guess it would be trekking in Mount Makiling back when I was a teenager and a part of the Science Club. We walked and trekked for about 3 hours.

Here’s my question: If you are lonely and sad, where is the best place for you to let out all your emotions?

when i’m lonely and sad, i want to be able to reflect somewhere quiet… it doesn’t matter whether it’s just in my bedroom or in an empty church as long as there’s silence.

if you were to travel to only three places in your entire life, where would you go and why?

first, the mountains. i have always loved the challenge of going up, the success of reaching the top and the solitude of being one with nature. plus it gives me the feeling of being closer to the creator.

second, the beach. the unbeatable combination of sun, sand and sea. oh! of course don’t forget to sip that cool drink as you listen to Jack Johnson crooning in the background.

third and last, there’s no place like home.

so far, what can you consider as the best place/s you have travelled to?

I love Paris. It is awesome, historical and very romantic. I love the city and I am still planning to come back.

What are your “must bring” when you travel?

I have to bring the following essentials among others – medicines for all types of ailment, lip balm, suntan lotion, anti mosquito repellant, ziplock plastic bags to put my dirty clothes, photocopies of all my travel documents (hotel accommodations, plane tickets, visas, passports and travel insurance), my travel papers, naturally.

Do you map out your itinerary before you reach your destination or just go free and easy and explore on your own?

My favorite destination is Hawaii. Nature at its best. Laid back yet very modern.

I map out my itinerary before I go, book tours online, etc.

What would rather do, travel back in time or travel to space?

I would like to travel back in time and experience the life in the old days when modern technology doesn’t exist yet. I would like to go back as far back as the pre-colonial era.

By yacht crossing the equator… for 21 days to the Indian Ocean starting from Barcelona, pit stop in Malta, another stop in Egypt to wait for the convoy of crossing the Suez Canal, a refuel stop in Yemen… chased by Pirates along the coast of Somalia…then entering the Indian Ocean to Seychelles.

Also 5 weeks cruising the Bahamas… we left Florida Dec 19th, was in Nassau, to the Exumas, back to Nassau, to Harbour Island via Spanish Wells, back to Nassau then Exumas again from Grand Exumas to Florida arriving here 3rd week of January this year.

By land I did a trekking trip for 10 days….Central Greece.

willing to try anything, willing to go anywhere, willing to keep an open mind about everything, and willing to carry my bags for me (that’s why hubby is my perfect travel buddy, hehe!). :)

question: what souvenir do you usually take home from your travel(s)?

Food, trinkets, stuff for the house and….ref magnets (this is actually my husband’s choice) :)

Question : Do you travel light or do you pack stuff for every imaginable occasion you might find yourself in during your trip?

I always try to travel light but I usually end up with tons of stuff specially on my return trip because of souvenirs, etc. When I go home for vacation, I fill my luggauge with Filipino food and other things that I can only buy from the Philippines. Somehow, I always get away with my excess baggage except during my last vacation, we were asked to pay for it.

If you can only visit three places in the Philippines in your lifetime, what would it be?

Cebu, Palawan, and Davao. I think these are the most exciting places in the country today.

Here’s my question: When you travel, do you prefer getting the services of travel agencies, or do you make your own arrangements like buying your tickets, choosing your airlines, hotels to stay, and destinations to visit? Why?

Travel equals adventure for me. Preparing my own travel is part of the fun. By doing everything myself I already start to travel a bit in advance… but mostly I don’t prepare… I leave everything in the hand of hazard and fate…

Question: what do you prefer… big cities or quiet remote villages?

I prefer quiet remote villages. Could it have a spa service though? πŸ˜›

Have you ever had that “Before Sunrise” moment — meeting a stranger that you find yourself connecting with, but letting that relationship (if you can call it that) with him/her end along with the trip? If you haven’t had that moment, would you want to have that experience?

Will 3 1/2 hours in the plane count? I think that is the only experience I have that came close to a “Before Suncrise” moment. I sat beside this quite attractive, very easy to talk to Canadian on our (my daughter and I) trip back to Denver from Calgary and I was tempted to get his contact information, but I didn’t. I’m happily married, after all and even if I had thought he would make a good friend, why tempt temptation?
Question: Would you like to be a participant in “The Amazing Race”? Who would you race with and why?

Yes, I would love to join the Amazing Race because it will allow me to visit places all over the world and experience travelling that’s not necessarily “touristy”. I would only race with my hubby because he’s very smart, organized, a very good driver, and he’s good with “English baby talk” for countries that cannot speak English well.

If you can spare six months of your life travelling but only had US$10,000 to spend, where would you go?

I will travel the Philippines from the Northern most point to the Southern-most point and from West to East. It’s shameful but I haven’t travelled much in my very own country!!!

my husband! we have very good travel chemistry together, we have very similar tastes when it comes to places to see and food to eat. and at the end of a long tiring day, it feels so good to snuggle up close to him and pillow talk the events of the day. πŸ˜‰

Q: what do you do on a long flight/trip to keep yourself from getting bored?
