So what’s the cure for insomnia?

by

Don't read this before sleeping. Dear Home Remedies Book,

You sly, sly minx. You had me at “Thousands of Tips and Techniques Anyone Can Use to Heal Everyday Health Problems.” It also helped that you were on sale. I loved how your words were friendly and approachable. You made “constipation,” “blisters” and “pimples” so interesting I just had to keep leafing through your pages. You made me want to read more and more.

However, you were too good. Your stories stayed with me for most of the night, long after I placed you back on the shelf. Stories like “diarrhea,” “diabetes” and “high cholesterol” lingered. I was haunted by the bananas I ate, the one too many cupcakes I snacked on, the crispy pata I joyfully devoured. What if I’m a candidate for all sicknesses? I tossed and turned, scratched my head and saw hair on my pillow. Is that hair loss? I knew you had a tip on that. And then I paused saw what looked like a blister on my hand. Maybe I have dermatitis. I knew I shouldn’t scratch my hand; you had a tip on that too!

What if I’m a hypochondriac now? What should I do? Let me turn to the “H” section…

You are a sly, sly minx. You have a thousand tips to cure my thousand imaginary sicknesses that came out all in one night.

Maybe I should visit the chapter on insomnia.

Loving you and hating you,
Toni

Moral of the story: Do not read this book before bedtime, especially if you have a hyperactive imagination like mine.
