Race you to the top!

Which shall you fill first?

The Rules:
1. For every impulse buy item that you resisted buying, put a coin into the Lottery Jar.
2. For every household chore completed, put a coin into the Mall Jar.
3. For every bad word spoken, put a coin into the Cussin’ Jar.
4. For every time you deposit into your savings account, put a coin into the Retirement Fund.

If these jars were in your home, which jar would get filled up first?

    My forced-savings modus-operandi is I better have a $-for-$ deposit for every $ I spend shopping, e.g. if I spent $500 for a purse, I better make sure I deposit $500 in a savings account. If I can’t match the $-for-$ dictum, I can’t afford to shop so I stay home or just window-shop! It works. :)

I would have to say that for the past years, it was the retirement jar.
But all that money is going to the property now so I’m guessing… the cussin jar?

It can’t be the lottery jar cuz I just bought 3 books by Lesley Pearse last weekend even if I had so many more books to read. My reasoning? Because her books are hard to find and when I do find them, there’s usually just one book per title! Needless to say, I paid the books by credit card!

    Cussin’ jar! Food isn’t the only thing spicy in my life. My language is peppered with cusses as well, unfortunately. I think it’s the industry I work in. ^_^;;

    Love your jars, btw.

The Lottery Jar, then the Mall Jar, hehe. I like Plain_Jane_Too’s take on forced-savings. I should do that every time I get the urge to shop!

Definitely the mall money jar. Then maybe the cussin jar. Now because of the lottery money jar my retirement fund jar hardly ever gets anything. :)

Love the jars…maybe I should do that at home :)

I’d say the lottery jar. Too many impulse buying of books! 😛 Thanks for sharing this Toni, an innovative way to save up :) And I agree, those are great jars!

that’s cute! haha i’d probly fill up the 1st and last jar first.

i make it a point a deposit a certain amount to savings (for both us couple’s and for my son’s) every payday so… i’m pretty sure there’s constantly something there.

I rarely go shopping nowadays and i usually am very very careful when shopping unless i just had a great big bonus or won the lottery (which never happened hehe)

i’d love to know where you got that… interesting if my theories on which jar would fill up first is true haha
