Avocado Ice Monster

I LOVE Ice Monster. Ice Monster is a shop that sells iced treats — desserts made with ice shavings, fruits, milk and toppings (nuts, corn flakes, sago, etc.). They have a variety of iced treats for you to choose from. How does Saba Langka sound? Peaches with Blueberries? Mango and Strawberry? Mango and Kiwi? You can mix and match the fruits according to your own taste. I enjoy the classic Avocado treat as well as the Melon Mango Ice with extra vanilla ice cream and sago.

While it’s a great way to beat the summer heat, it’s also a yummy treat after a long day. One afternoon, my friends and I were tired from work and so we retreated to Ice Monster. It wasn’t hot outside but we all craved for the kick-back-and-relax-mood a cup of Ice Monster can give.

Choco Banana or Avocado? The girls ordered Avocado. The guys ordered Choco Banana. What would you like to order?

True, you can prepare this kind of iced treat at home too. For an Avocado treat: In a bowl, put in crushed ice, milk, spoonfuls of avocado with a bit of sugar. Mix well and eat! Yum. I like mashing the avocado too. With Choco Banana, you can put in banana slices, some milk, crushed ice, Hershey’s chocolate syrup and shower it with nuts. Easy peasy.

However, Ice Monster’s secret is in the ice. They have a special machine that shaves their ice very thinly. The effect? The ice is melt-in-your-mouth heaven! No awkward-coarse-ice-crushing-hurting-your-molars moments. Now combine that smooth ice with your choice of fruits and this is one treat you’ll definitely enjoy.

Let’s pretend we’re at Ice Monster. Which one of these great combinations would you order?

My first taste of Ice Monster wasn’t good. Too bland, I forgot the flavor, it has chocolate bits toppings. I still favor Razon’s Halo-Halo. Less ingredients but it’s really creamy. Actually, crush iced and milk, leche flan and ube are enough for me.

    Brownie fudge. Mmmmm.

I’m on Atkins right now, though, so that’ll be a dream for the next few months.

Avocado sana, kaso mataas daw sa cholesterol…and plus, no ice cream for me na rin after gaining 5 pounds from all the last few weeks gastronomic gimmicks.

I admit I’ve never been to Ice Monster.
But I’m willing to try the Buko Pandan.
    It looks so refreshing.

For a moment, I thought the first photo was a bowl of pinakbet. Then I saw the words “Ice Monster” and I said to myself, “Well, now they’ve done it; they’ve gone and made pakbet ice cream.”
