Books are love. If you love books, answer any or all of the questions below! It would be great to learn from one another. Let’s keep our love for reading flowing.

1. What books are you currently reading?
2. What books are on your to-be-read list?
3. What book/s would you recommend?
4. What book made you fall in love with reading?
5. Do you have a book collection you’re proud of? Tell us about it!

I’d love to know your answers! :) Mine come after the jump.

1. What books are you currently reading?

2. What books are on your to-be-read list?
I have a lot of books in my shelf that I have not yet read. The titles escape me at the moment but I do know there are a lot of them!

3. What book/s would you recommend?

4. What book made you fall in love with reading?

5. Do you have a book collection you’re proud of? Tell us about it!
My sisters and I used to collect Archie comics! We had a huuuuuge collection and they’d be scattered all over the house. Some of them still are! I love seeing a Betty & Veronica Double Digest in the dining room, or a Jughead one squeezed into a corner of the wine cabinet. If we could have an Archie-comics-hunt at home ala an Easter Egg-hunt, it would be a lot of fun!

    1. What books are you currently reading?
Right now, I’m into historical romance novels. I’m currently reading Medieval novels by Julie Garwood (The Prize, Honor’s Splendour, Gentle Warrior, Saving Grace, Ransom, The Secret, and The Bride). History and romance for me is a very interesting and captivating combination!

    2. What books are on your to-be-read list?
I have been reading Ian McEwan’s Atonement for months! I couldn’t finish it because I’m having a hard time understanding McEwan’s very extensive vocabulary! Aside from Atonement, the books that are on my to-be-read list is the Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon, the Regency novels by Julie Garwood, and the Georgian Period books by Elizabeth Hoyt.

    3. What book/s would you recommend?
Since I’m a historical fiction buff, I greatly recommend Anya Seton’s Katherine(Middle Age), The Birth of Venus(Renaissance) by Sarah Dunant, The House of the Spirits(2oth century Chile) by Isabel Allende, and The Unbearable Lightness of Being(Communist Czechoslovakia) by Milan Kundera.

    4. What book made you fall in love with reading?
The Harry Potter series made me fall in love reading. I have a very imaginative mind and Harry Potter was the first to provide me an escape to an exciting world!

    5. Do you have a book collection you’re proud of? Tell us about it!
Yes, I have a book collection that I’m proud of! It’s not that extensive yet because I just started really collecting a year ago. But I’m proud of it because it shows my interest with history – whether it’s about the Philippines or the World!

Do you read Philippa Gregory, babaylansamaynila? You might enjoy her books too if you’re into historical romances!

Like Babaylansamaynila, I too have been meaning to read the Outlanders series by Diana Gabaldon. I love historical novels and I’ve heard good things about the series.

Ooooh I didn’t know this! I’ll answer here but I’ll also post this on my blog just for kicks. 😛

    1. What books are you currently reading?
Right now I’m reading Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen (FINALLY, after two years of being in my TBR pile), and Time Off for Good Behavior by Lani Diane Rich (ebook :) ).

    2. What books are on your to-be-read list?
Too many! But after P&P, I’ll finally read City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare, which is a sequel of another book series I started reading last year. :)

    3. What book/s would you recommend?
The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen — it’s a YA novel but it’s one of the best ones I’ve read. Also anything by Frank Peretti or Ted Dekker. :)

    4. What book made you fall in love with reading?
I think it was Sweet Valley Kids #35 (haha I still remember the number), The Best Thanksgiving Ever. It was the first Sweet Valley book that my parents got me after I asked them for it. 😀

    5. Do you have a book collection you’re proud of? Tell us about it!
One collection I’m proud of is my Sarah Dessen collection…I have 7 out of 8 books, and I’m just waiting for a paperback copy of her eighth. :)

I’ve been wanting to read Sarah Dessen! I’ll ask my sister if she can lend me her collection for the month. I love YA reads!

    4. What book made you fall in love with reading?
    * Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret, Judy Blume

    5. Do you have a book collection you’re proud of? Tell us about it!
    * I have an embarrassing number of cookbooks. When I can’t sleep I will pick one at random and read it in bed. I have everything from the Ben & Jerry’s Cookbook (for homemade ice creams and all the cookie/brownie mix-ins) to the Jane Austen Cookbook (actual recipes used during Austen’s time and household). I should stop buying them. It’s a bad compulsion. Haha.
    * Call me crazy, but one of my bookish goals is to complete my collection of all the Sweet Dreams books. Remember those from the 80’s? I’ve been slowly finding them on eBay, at library booksales, etc. I’m up to 47! (I think there were over 200.) They were such a part of my growing up that they’re a fun thing to collect, with all those 80’s covers. I heart them.

This post is just in time, btw! This weekend will find me at the LA Times/UCLA Festival of Books. Two full days off bookwormishness. :) (http://www.latimes.com/extras/festivalofbooks/index.html)

J.s last blog post..Earth Day Cupcakes

The Bread Baker’s Apprentice sounds really intriguing. I’ll look for that in the bookstore!

PREP I loved! Lee Fiora is one of my favorite characters ever. :)

“Are You There God?” is love. Classic, J!

    Festival of Books!?!?!??!! Book-gasm!!!!!!!!!!!

    1. What books are you currently reading?
NEVER LET ME GO by Kazuo Ishiguro

    2. What books are on your to-be-read list?
    a. Atonement – Ian McEwan (by the way Tones, the movie is also good)
    b. David Copperfield – Charles Dickens
    c. Lord of the Flies – William Golding

    3. What book/s would you recommend?
I would like to especially mention “Written on the Body” by Jeanette Winterson. It’s brilliant, the protagonist narrates in a manner na hindi mo mai-determine yung gender niya. That is one of the magic of this novel. Another book would be “CHRISTIAN PHILOSOPHY” by Joseph M. De Torre, if anyone will ask me what book has such the most lasting influence in my life, this would be it.
Sa Philippine Lit, “Mass” by F. Sionil-Jose and “Sampagitang walang Bango” by Inigo Regalado. I would also like to recommend comic books and graphic novels, I realized that this type of literature shouldn’t be underestimated. Those would be “Batman: the Killing Joke”, “Batman:Year One” and “The Man who Laughs”, also try “Watchmen”.

    4. What book/s made you fall in love with reading?
Actually, yung mga mini encyclopedias nung Lola ko, katulad nung “Children’s Treasury of Knowledge”, “ChildCraft” and other encyclopedias too. Doon nagsimula, naaalala ko pa nga na I prefer to read habang naglalaro yung iba kong kapatid. Masaya, kasi kampante ako na okay lang sa kanila na ayaw ko munang maglaro at supportive naman sila.

    5. Do you have a book collection you’re proud of?
Well, I am proud of my whole collection. Madami na siya, it is a prominent fixture in my room. Atsaka natutuwa ako na may makakausap ako with the same interests tapos nakakabond ko pa. Ay oo, I’m also proud of my Pugad Baboy Collection.

Toni, Maraming salamat. Atsaka, thank you din kasi this gave me an opportunity to share about myself.
God bless you always, and this entry helped brighten my day. Thank you!

    —->> Tessa

Tessa, super thanks for your recos.

Yup, I’ve seen Atonement. I loved the movie! Gusto ko basahin yun libro sometime.

Childcraft! Oo nga naman. I love that set. Ang pinakapaborito ko yun color blue, arts and crafts ata yon 😀
