Butter biscuits for the toddler

by

Butter biscuits for your toddler? Why not? If he’s as picky as my little one, biscuits are a big meal miracle. If they’re butter ANIMAL biscuits, even better. This got the approval of Sir Timmy the Finicky. :)

The two of us were checking out the food aisle at Marks & Spencer, and this caught our eye. I mean, LOOK! There’s a cute cat, a darling dog and an owl that’s practically hooting “Buy me hoot hoot!” Timmy was quite fond of the packaging and began trying to open the bag. Uh, wait a minute little boy. Mommy has to pay for it first! The pack cost Php 165.00.

As soon as we got settled for lunch, we opened the pack. Cuteness overload!

We could see these animal biscuits were adorable but were they any good? Oh yes, yes, yes. Timmy went straight for the animals and started munching on them. Marks & Spencer’s simply…KIDS’ all-butter mini animal biscuits were YUMMY. They reminded me of the butter biscuits I ate when I was a kid, only these aren’t oily, hard and cloying at all. (Obviously I don’t have fond memories of butter biscuits from my childhood.)  These biscuits were crunch and chewy at the same time. They also had a delicious butter flavor that wasn’t overwhelming. Timmy ate six biscuits in one sitting, along with his lunch. Oh you bet I was one proud and happy Mommy.

After lunch, we got some frozen yogurt (Timmy) and ice cream (Mommy) for dessert. Guess who dipped his biscuit in MY ice cream? Ah yes, Sir Timmy the Butter Biscuit Buff. He was on to something though because I ended up doing the same thing. Butter biscuits with salted caramel ice cream is damn good. (But that is another story, er, blog entry!)

There are days when he’ll eat anything, then there are days when he’ll eat super selectively. I’ve been told that’s normal toddler behavior. For now I’m happy that if those picky days come again, I’ve got ammo! I’ve got these yummy butter biscuits! Correction — butter ANIMAL biscuits! Sir Timmy the Butter Biscuit Buff will surely be pleased.
