If I had the time to have a leisurely breakfast, this would be my ideal menu: tinapang isda, diced tomatoes on the side, brown rice and an egg cooked sunny side up. I’d wash that down with a glass of O.J. and have some fresh fruit for dessert. Yum.
Sadly, weekday mornings make my home resemble a grocery when people are panic-buying. I’m all over the place stressing myself out on why I had to press the snooze button so many times. But breakfast is a must and so here’s what I usually have when I’m in a morning rush:
I grab a box of cereal, pour about a cup of it into a plastic container. And if I have bananas, I slice some up very quickly and place them in with the cereal. I take with me a disposable spoon and a tetra pack of skim milk. When I get to the office, I take a little bit of time to enjoy my morning cereal.
There’s no escaping breakfast. If there’s a will, there’s a way!

June 23, 2005 at 2:53 pm (19 years ago)Here’s another breakfast suggestion if you don’t have bananas: try flax seeds. Very healthy.
Same procedure. One cup of cereal or oatmeal. Pour in non-fat milk or hot water. No sugar. Use Equal if you want some sweetness. Add one tablespoon of ground flax seeds (pre-ground it using any mortar and pestle). Mix. Eat!
You can get the flax seeds in Rustan’s Rockwell or Makati.
Off-topic: This is a much better home for you, Toni. Bagay sa yo.

June 23, 2005 at 8:14 pm (19 years ago)cereal is good, better than nothing. ako naman i get up as early as 6 am just to have breakfast with my husband who leaves home at 7:20 on the dot on weekdays. i would love to have sinangag with longganisa and salted egg with diced tomatoes and a cup of steaming coffee. kung walang longganisa, id settle for danggit or tuyo which i will dip in vinegar and garlic sauce! yummeh! here in korea hubby and i usually have miso soup, nori and kimchi for breakfast…boring!

June 23, 2005 at 8:32 pm (19 years ago)I have a pretty functional breakfast. Protein shake with 60 grams of protein to start my day off right, along with a banana. Chug down my set of multivitamin pills and other biochemical junk for the day. Then I’m ready to go for the typical 14-16 hour day.

June 24, 2005 at 12:41 am (19 years ago)Its the most important meal of the day! I usually have cereal now w/ skim milk as well. I also went through a phase of oatmeal but I got sick of it, toast/bagel w/ cream cheese, but I always try to have breakfast no matter what.

June 24, 2005 at 12:56 am (19 years ago)Breakfast to go ka pala when in a hurry… Our breakfast is mostly leftover ulam from the night before served with garlic rice. If the ulam is not enough, we add a breakfast item like egg, bacon, hotdog, tuna or sardines.

June 24, 2005 at 4:56 pm (19 years ago)Hi Toni!
Mmmh, bananas…Sounds yummy :o)
Or you can also try this–this is what I do here–I don’t like my cereal getting soggy so quickly, so instead of milk, I dump them into a cup of yoghurt. Or try subtituting cereal with muesli. Mmmh…
Okay, better stop salivating and start working! See you!
Will email you back. :o)
