Taking 5 Before Bedtime

Rock-a-bye Kitty. Image from stock.xchg. These are the top 5 things I think one should do before turning out the light and catching some zzz’s. Well, this is what I do anyway. 😉

1. Wash your face. That is unless you want to wake up to an oily version of yourself printed on your pillow!

2. Moisturize. Slather on that eye cream, face cream, body lotion, foot lotion before going to bed. At least you know that while you’re far away in dreamland, your body’s working to keep your skin as smooth as a baby’s. Isn’t it annoying to wake up to crocodile skin?

3. Drink water. Whether you have a hangover or not, this is good for your health. Don’t you feel so thirsty upon waking up? I read somewhere that our bodies lose water even while we’re sleeping. It’s best to stay hydrated even if we’re catching those zzz’s.

4. Think of at least 3 things you’re thankful for that day. Deadlines haunt me all the way under the sheets, but I try to repel this negativity by thinking of the highlights of my day. Feeling the positivity of those things I’m really grateful for puts me in a better mood and sets me up for some sweet dreams. I usually think of the three words at this point and say a thanksgiving prayer.

5. Kiss your loved ones good night. Give them a hug, a kiss, a noogie… oh well, however way you express your affection, make it known to them. No matter how tired you are, make them feel the love.

There are other things I also do like brush my hair, wipe the kitchen counters, plump the living room pillows; but if I forget to do any of those, it’s fine. Not doing any of those Top 5 items makes me a candidate for a Ms. Cranky award.

I wrote this post as part of Darren Rowse’s group writing project. What fun! And good thing I wrote this because I’m suddenly reminded that I’m running out of facial moisturizer. Aha! An excuse to go shopping. 😉

    That’s a very good list!
    I do most of those every night, except I don’t moisturize as I ought! Michele sent me.

    This is a good list. I do most of them except for no. 2. I just use astringent and that’s it. I have so many lotions (most are given to me as gifts) but I rarely use them. Medyo tamad lang ako I guess. :)

    I just spend a few minutes killing the mosquitoes in my room and then I sleep! No facial creams for me! 😉

    Oh, I like that list. I always kiss my son good night before we go to sleep. It feels weird if I don’t get to.

    Those are some very good Bedtiime-Pre-Sleep, Suggestions. I am a BIG Believer in drinking lots and lots of water….in fact, I would have to say, it is my very favorite drink.

    gee… what i do generally is, brush my teeth, drink water, pee… and then play tickles-and kisses with the hubs

    but since he’s the one am most thankful for… kulang na lang ako ng two other things 😀

    I like your list, especially #4. Sometimes we are too busy doing many things until we forget to be thankful. But being thankful is very important to have a positive day. Great tip!

    aha! kunyari ka pang 5 things, 5 things ha! shopping lang pala talaga. hahahahaha! i have a hard time sleeping. i usually play virtua tennis to help me get to sleep. but i get so engrossed so i keep myself awake. haaaay.

    hello Toni my 10 month old is named Toni Grace what is your middle name?We named her after my mother, she was Itilian, are you?also that was so cute i do all but mosterize, i need to do that to big ugly feet.They changed after Toni.I know I went to far.Lisa
