Mangosteen my love

Mangosteen

I ♥ mangosteen! What about you?

The mangosteen’s shell is a pain to break through, but once you’ve cracked into it, it gives way easily. All for protecting its flavorful insides, I suppose.

Part of the mangosteen experience is getting purple stains all over fingers when you pry it open. So if you’re wearing white or are particular about your well-polished fingernails, be warned! I usually wrap a paper napkin around the fruit, then pry the fruit open with my fingers. The stains stay on the napkin and not on my fingers.

They’re great summer fruits. I can eat five or six in one seating. Yum yum yum. What about you? Have you ever tried eating a mangosteen? How did you like it?

how much is mangosteen there in manila? it’s only P30 here in gensan, even 20-25 at times. Lanzones at P40, and durian at 25 per kilo…mangoes, P35… hmmm… i need a fruit fix…

Ay, super one of my favorite fruits ko ‘yan. Kaya lang yan yung isa sa mga pagkain na dapat sobrang ingat ako kasi ang lakas maka-mantsa niyan, hindi na babalik sa dati ang damit mo. Sayang. Anyway, ingat na lang di ba?
Thanks, Tones. Ingat ka and take good care of yourself.

MangostAIN is the more apt name ano? πŸ˜€ Ingat din!

Very true on the purple stains, but I like mangosteens! But ack, the last time I munched on one was during work-related visit to South Cotabato. Their mangosteens are really yummy! I’ll try to check this weekend if they have that here (probably an import).

Yum! I don’t know what part of the country the mangosteens I tried came from.

i don’t like a lot of fruits but mangosteen is one of my faves…too bad it’s so expensive in manila. in malaysia they have mangosteen juice and i love it but of course the fresh ones are the best.

” breaking it the first time is really a pain then it’ll give way easily. but after you cracked it open WHOA! what a flavorful delight!

The stain part is normal. there’s always a napkin anyway…. gee …. “mangosteen”

Normal but a hassle sometimes so best to be careful!

Mangosteen is indeed the healthiest fruit in the world. Looks can be deceiving. It may not look that attractive but it’s the inside that counts.

    You got it!
