Where did my feet go and other belly stories

Where did my feet go?

Woah, belly!
That’s the view from when I’m standing and looking down. Where did my feet go? I now have to lean forward to see the tips of my toes! Note also that belly button making a shoutout!

Belly bumping
My belly grows everyday and I underestimate how quickly it grows. I walked into a chair last Friday and was terribly worried something was going to go wrong! I was more surprised than hurt but I felt sooooo guilty not seeing that chair. Good thing I had the advice and support of my OB, husband and friends. No contractions followed, the baby kept on moving, it was just me that needed a little reassuring. Babies are protected and cushioned well, yes, but I was pretty shaken up.

The chair was cushioned, by the way. Thank goodness. It’s still no excuse for my clumsiness! Ah well, accidents happen. I’ll be more careful next time. *prepares to make protective padding for her tummy*

Belly itchy!!!
So I’m seeing some stretch marks develop now. And man, oh man, let the truth be told: they’re insanely ITCHY. My skin is stretching more and more, and I’m seeing those little purple lines say “Why, hello there!” I put cocoa butter on my skin to ease the itchiness, or just massage it a little bit. There are only about four little lines near the belly button but they sure pack a lot of itch! This baby’s growing leaps and bounds.

Belly boob
Hmmm. Why does the above image look like one big boob? Haha! There’s an old wives’ tale that if the belly’s pointed, it’s a boy. If it’s rounded, it’s a girl. Yep, my tummy’s quite the pointed one.

Belly loving
One of my Sunday highlights: Mama kissing my belly and talking to Timmy with her cheek on my belly. She finally felt him move around and kick! She’s one happy grandma. My sister J also felt Timmy kick! Yay! I hope Timmy kicks for my Dad and my sister P soon. 😀

Your Belly Stories
What are your belly stories? How did you beat the itchiness of stretch marks? What did you enjoy the most and the least about your growing belly? :)

Try the Palmer’s Soothing Oil with Vit. E for dry, itchy skin. I rub it on my belly generously all day long and so far, so good, I don’t have any stretchmarks.

toni, cute the way you enumerated everything about belly adventures :-)

i never had any treatment against stretch marks. 2 decades ago, i think there weren’t a lot of choices for it anyway. so when A&K came, i’ve already accepted defeat hehe

my ob-gyn told me to put calamine lotion. HUUUUUGE relief.

before i got stretch marks i was super-praying i wouldn’t get them, then when i got them, it was a really positive experience because parang i just learned to let go of my vanity and be happy that my baby was growing well. it really felt like a “mommy moment”: the start of a lifetime of sacrificing our own pettiness for the good of our kids, hehe! totoo yung sinasabi nila na stretchmarks are a mom’s battle scars. :)

Well, they’re really here na. I don’t mind. At first I was like, woooooah, I have stretch marks, bad trip!. Afterwards, I chalked it up to that “mommy moment” also. :) Mom’s battle scars… nice!

hey there happy mommy :) Don’t beat yourself up about it, it happens. I was a clumsy mommy myself – I actually tripped during the 2nd trimester and ended up on my knees. I was so scared! Everything turned out ok, just a bum knee. I also got stretch marks, but I didn’t itch. Odd. Oh, and I enjoyed waddling around, getting over the preggy walk takes time. And of course bonding with baby and hubby over a good book.

    Thanks Vida. *hugs*

I used a lot of lotions for the itchiness though you can’t always avoid stretch marks, sometimes they just happen lol I loved that my belly button didn’t pop out so I had a perfectly round belly all four times. I didn’t like that it always weighed on my back causing me to slouch from time to time.

How are you feeling? You’re almost there right? How exciting. I can’t believe my baby girl is already 3 weeks old today! Craziness. Can’t wait to read about your arrival! God bless HUGS

Hi Lindsey! Almost there!! I have the occasional back pain, but nothing that keeps me in bed. I usually just exercise a little bit, roll my hips around or sit up straight. It helps. I’m still enjoying every minute of having my little Timmy in my tummy. :)

hi toni. i love reading your preggy chronicles. i wished i started jotting down my thoughts on my blog when I was still pregnant, like what you are doing.

I blogged about how I felt during the time I was pregnant(http://got-to-believe.blogspot.com/2009/05/remember-when-you-were-pregnant.html). I felt that it was the best time of my life! Of course, now that the baby is here, it’s even better times than that “best time” =)

enjoy your pregnancy. yur little timmy is coming soon.

I have a chubby belly and not yet been in the pregnancy thing. I don’t know how will I lose this fat and don’t you know that I have this itchy thing called stretch marks! Guys would surely be turned off seeing my belly and stretch marks.
