Dear Timmy,
You’re turning six months old in a few days. Wasn’t it only yesterday when you’d stay awake through the night and I’d kid you that you were living in New York time? You sleep through the night now, only waking up to feed a little bit. Then you fall back into your baby slumber, giggling while you dream.
You’re a very cheery baby. You laugh at the littlest thing. You welcome family with your bright eyes and big smile. You love jumping on Daddy’s lap and doing lightning quick rolls on the bed. You can sit up supported, back straight, chin up. You love to read, your baby hands holding the edges of your books, your eyes wide open as you flip, flip, flip the pages.
You enjoy piano time with Nonna, gardening time with Nonno. You welcome new experiences with wide arms and curious eyes, and I hope you never lose that wonder. When we’re in bed, just me and you, we lie down face to face. You place your chubby hands on my cheeks and gaze at me intently. Then you gurgle and coo, and I say, yes, my son, you’re here. I still can’t believe you’re really here.
You’re taking fruit juice now and semi-solids too. You’re growing bigger, heavier, brighter. We are so blessed to have you in our family, in our household.
You’re trying to crawl now. You lie on your tummy and push your butt in the air. You’re slowly discovering the power of your knees. Soon we’ll be chasing you down the hallway.
I love you my son. I whisper my dreams to you when we’re together. You know what Mommy dreams of. Someday I’ll give you all those things because you deserve no less. For now, let’s enjoy this time together, and both giggle while we dream.
