Girlfriends

Good Friends. Sheila, Gigi and Toni.
“A friend knows the song in my heart and sings it to me when my memory fails.” — Donna Roberts

Sheila, Gigi and I have been friends for 8 years now. We’ve seen each other at our most glowing moments (stellar careers, lovelife highs) and our worst (career dilemmas, hangovers by broken hearts). While our busy schedules keep us from meeting as much we’d like to, we take full advantage of technology to keep in touch. And of course we try out darndest best to keep one evening meeting-free so we can catch up.

I could write about our history. I could write about how much I look up to each of them. However, words won’t be enough and so I’ll just say this: Good friends are hard to come by. When you find a promising friendship, nurture it and make it grow. In a real friendship, there are no judgments made nor is there crab mentality. I’m blessed to have nurtured a real friendship with Sheila and Gigi. We’ve held hands, shrieked and laughed together during the many rollercoaster rides in our lives. I look forward to what the next 8 or 28 have in store for us.

I believe that we can live without men in our lives, but we can’t live without girlfriends! :) A true friend is a sturdy shelter from the storms of life.

i’m the type who have long lasting friendships too..nevermind the distance as long as the feelings are connected.

you made those maki rolls? cool! it looks so perfectly done, the Japanese are very particular about the appearance of the food too..it shouldn’t be juz tasty,it should also be appealing to the eyes..btw..they sometimes put avocado as a side dish with sashimi, they dip it into soysauce..arghh..

may einstein ka naman ngayon, haha! you are one resourceful wifey!

“When you find a promising friendship, nurture it and make it grow.”

Amen. We’re blessed with them in our lives but it is our responsibility to nurture regardless the situation. My best girlfriends (through thick and thin) have been with me for decades. We joke that we’ll be the ladies who lunch even with our fake teeth, weird hair, earpieces, etc. Hahaha.

re: Sashimi – yes! Actually, my specialty is the crab hand roll. It’s much easier than cutting up pieces.

star : And blessed are those that they have found too!

tintin : True! There are things we can share with our girlfriends that we can never share with our men.

jey : Wow 12 years! :) That’s a loooong time. That’s also the length of time I’ve been friends with my college barkada!

sachiko : True. Distance is never a barrier in a real friendship! And oh no, I didn’t make those maki rolls. We ordered them at a Japanese resto!

mare : “We joke that we’ll be the ladies who lunch even with our fake teeth, weird hair, earpieces, etc. ” Oh how cute! I am sure that will be the same way with my friends too. It’s one of the things in life I know I can look forward to! Never mind old age!

paz : Wow, since gradeschool? I have to admit, I didn’t stay close with my gradeschool barkada. I wonder where they are now! Your friendship with each one of them is truly special. You’ve come a loong way!

annabanana : I really can’t access your blog!!! Sigh. I’ll try it in a net cafe sometime. Baka naman dito sa office ang may problem sa connection. Hugs!

kala : Hi there! Yes I’m growing out my hair. I’ve had short hair for about 9 years now so I want to try long hair na!

Sheila : Sana hindi naman umabot ng 1 year bago tayo magkita ulit!
