Follow your heart

Happiness is wealth too.

Sometimes I tell my son to be a doctor or a lawyer. There’s no money in the arts (Exhibit A: Me). But I know whatever he pursues, if there’s a writer in him too, I’ll fully support it. Follow your heart, anak. Happiness is wealth too.

when i became a mom, all i wanted for my kids was to be able to finish their studies, then pursue what ever they wanted to become. Until now that my eldest is about to graduate from elementary, yeah I have a high school pre-teen daughter. siguro ganun talaga tayong Mothers (parents), what ever that will make our children happy, go lang, as long as we will ALWAYS be there for them, I am sure they will never feel alone in their own endeavors.

my wish for benji is for him to find his passion. i don’t have a passion (vocationally speaking). i followed the traditional path to vocational success and finding it really hard to know when or if i will ever get to a place where i want to be, professionally. as i heard from donald trump, if you are not passionate about what you do, you will never be successful. i hate to admit this because i am not really a big fan of him but he is right….

My husband and I are both doctors, so my son once asked us if he was expected to be one too. Our answer: be a doctor only if that’s what you want. Find something you want to do for the rest of your life so that it won’t feel like “work”. You have to love whatever you do.
