Dress me up!

by

Last weekend, I wore a dress for the first time in many years. I mean the I’m-wearing-a-dress-for-no-special-reason reason, not the I’m-wearing-a-dress-because-there’s-an-occasion-reason reason. A t-shirt and jeans is my usual attire, but I couldn’t resist wearing a dress I had bought a few days before. It’s blue and brown, made from a soft, soft fabric. It was a pretty little sundress that felt so good against my skin. I felt so feminine and graceful!

I don’t like dresses because I can’t move as comfortably as when I’m in jeans. You do have to behave more like a proper lady lest you want the whole world to see what’s underneath that pretty skirt. I also don’t like my legs very much, so I keep them wrapped up in denim 99.9% of the time.

But ah, this dress just called out to me in a different way. It seemed to whisper to me, “Celebrate your femininity!” When I put it on, my discomfort with my legs and having to behave ever-so-properly vanished. It gave me a healthy boost of confidence and graceful femininity, and hey, my legs didn’t look so bad after all.

It’s the first dress that I’ve bought in ages and I don’t think it’ll be the last dress I’ll be buying. I felt very comfortable wearing that dress, and I’m looking forward to the comfort of other new dresses too! While I’ll always have my favorite t-shirt and jeans combo, I’ll be making more room for these feminine treasures.

I’m so glad you’ve found the magic of wearing dresses! I used to be a pants/jeans person, but it seems to be more of a “dress culture” down here. I work in a casual office but the girls love to dress up and we dont get strange looks of the “Hey what’s the occasion?” or “May interview ka?” variety. I personally love dresses because they’re so easy to put on in the morning and you dont have to think about which top matches what bottom, should I wear a belt, etc. Hoping you get a chance to enjoy your dress treasures again soon!

hay miss toni… wish my gurl would wear a dress na rin. she doesn’t like her legs (her calves particularly) either. been telling her to be daring and wear one. kaso nahihiya pa rin. so i’m “training” her bit by bit. na-convince ko na rin na magsuot nung “short dress” with slacks/jeans. she saw her officemates wear something like that eh. haven’t seen her yet pero she said she’d be willing to try. ^_^ *cross fingers*

I found your blog while browsing the bestest blog site. I am so glad I did. I love it. I too, never wear dresses, although I do have that one–like yours. I simply embrace being a woman in this one. I will be a regular on this site now, I truly love it!!! Best of luck to you!!!

I don’t like wearing dresses, but I love wearing skirts. Since I can’t wear a skirt to the office on the account of freezing temperatures here, I usually wear them on weekends. My favorite weekend attire, knee length skirts, a plain shirt and flipflops. 😀 Everyday is summer! :)

Hey Toni, that’s really great! I’m, really happy for you, there’s nothing better than having to experience how wonderful it is to know that as a girl, you’ve discovered how graceful and very sophisticated you are to wear a dress that really brings out your wonderful femininity. It’s more than enough to make you feel good about yourself that what you have realized that a physical attribute of yours you once thought of before was unattractive is actually not as bad as it seems, or in this case more beautiful than what you have assumed. I’ve always wanted to buy one but my mom says i have to behave and sit proprerly first before she considers of purchasing one, so I guess I’m stuck with jeans. Nakakakainggit….in a good way though! Thank you Toni, have a great day!!!

    Cheers,
    Tessa

so where’s the pic of you in the dress?!

i’ve always pictured you to be the dress-wearing-girl type. i love skirts and dresses and wear them most of the time during the summers here. i even wear them in the dead of winter. it’s just easier. you have your shirt-and-jeans combo, and i have my shirt-and-skirt combo!

    Hey Toni!

I also recently started incorporating dresses into my daily wear. I saw this dress with a cute print and said, “well, why not?! i could wear it to the office!” I figured, I’m almost 27, I should be slowly letting go of wearing miniskirts in the office and be more mature looking.

It’s actually very comfortable but I guess I feel this way cuz I prefer skirts to jeans. I just find jeans too hot to wear and just something you wear when it’s cold or you have a day ahead filled with physical activities.

Baliktad pala tayo. I prefer wearing skirts. I don’t think I’ve worn a dress to work pero I wear skirts a lot. For me it has a lot of give so when I sit down, I don’t feel as restricted compared to pants. I’m glad you’re starting to like wearing dresses. I do feel more feminine (obviously) when I wear skirts but not in a bad way.

Oo nga, where are the pics? I’m not too fond of dresses either. Even when I was pregnant, I never wore a maternity dress. Actually, I never wore anything strictly “maternity”. However, the dresses coming out lately are so nice. They’re actually wearable but I haven’t found the right one for me yet. Good for you Toni. Pero please….picture naman dyan :)

Dresses are an “in” thing today I think, although there is nothing wrong in wearing jeans.

    But where’s the pic?? 😛

Since I stopped working, i have not worn clickety sexy heels, save for a few special occasions. I miss wearing them. Sometimes I think of buying a pair and wearing them for no reason LOL.

Thanks for the birthday card you emailed earlier. Very beautiful wishes…
And btw, your keycodes are so yummy everytime ha. Today I got “mamon’! 😀
