Double-purpose poster boards

by

We don’t have enough space to put up posters at home, but I really wanted this Alphabet poster for Timmy! I bought it anyway (about P40.00 from Goodwill) then taped it onto an illustration board of the same size. Voila! I’ve got a portable poster that I can just prop on a table or wall wherever, whenever.

The even more fun thing about it is that it doubles as a drawing board for the toddler. Flip the poster over and you’ve got the white part of the illustration board. Perfect for plopping on the floor with a bunch of crayons, right?

When the toddler is in artist mode, I just grab the poster boards and a-coloring he will go. He gets pretty intense with the crayons and I think he likes the big white space the illustration board provides.

Voila! Learning posters on one side, toddler art on the other. It’s learning and coloring fun you can take from room to room. :) I’m hanging on to these boards too! Who knows, I might just frame the toddler’s art someday too.

When I was still a teacher, my co-worker of mine who handles the preschoolers also had a brilliant idea. She covered half of one of their classroom walls with brown paper and the area became the designated graffiti wall where her kids can draw and write to their little hearts’ content. Now the kids will never be tempted to draw on other places, right? :)

I like this alphabet chart. I think it’s time for us to replace the kiddo’s Dora alphabet chart. We had it before she turned 2 y/o and now it’s pretty much torn into pieces, I just use tape to put it back together so she can still use it.

We have the same poster. And our toddler (turning 3 next week) basically has the same sense of art as Timmy — squiggly colorful lines, curves, and circles. We also got the “JoyToy” color and 1-20 number posters. They’re posted behind the door and by the stairs (at our toddlers eye level) so that we could have instant study sessions anytime we feel like it. These posters are the best I’ve seen so far. We got ours from National Bookstore here in Cebu. 😀
