The story that should’ve been posted with yesterday’s entry

by

After tons of years, I attended an EB on the evening of Jan 3. I haven’t attended an EB since two years ago, I think.

I’m amazed at the many things the WWW has to offer. Who would’ve known I would’ve made new friends via Blogger?

I met Tanya for the first time last nite. I’ve never even been to her blog before I met her in person. Despite that we clicked instantly last nite and even felt like we were kindred souls. We just couldn’t place where we had met. Maybe we were sisters in a past life.

Din was hilarious. I met her for the first time too. But again, we instantly hit it off after just a couple of jokes and getting-to-know-you talk (hi, hello, what’s your blog, etc). She was so jolly and kept me in stitches. And she had an awesome camera too! (I just HAD to say it, Din!!!)

I loved meeting Jet and Jay, the Singapore couple. Since I correspond with Jet often, I felt like was meeting an old friend. I found Batjay to be amazingly reserved, but then who knows? It was our first meeting. Baka nahihiya pa siya sa amin. Hehehe. Peace, Fafa Jay! Sadly the beloved Spidey wasn’t with us. I am certain he would’ve gobbled up the orgasmic Pata Tim.

Dr. Emer and his soulmate were very warm and friendly. I’ve always admired Dr. E and yes! I finally met him. Before our dinner, I had already spotted him at Powerbooks but was hesitant to greet him. I might be wrong diba! But when I saw him during dinner I just had to blurt out “I saw you at Powerbooks!!!” To have hugged Dr. E a Happy New Year was a surreal experience. I felt like I was hugging a Blogger Idol. Well, oo nga! That was what I was doing!

One of Tito Rolly‘s first greetings to me was “Dala mo yun name tags?” Huhuhu. I had promised to bring name tags to last month’s Pinoybloggers EB but had to back out a day before. I felt a bit guilty about that. But our little dinner on that Monday night required no name tags as everyone remembered everyone else’s name (at least I hope so. In case they don’t remember mine, you can just call me WifelySteps). Tito Rolly was funny and charming! I’ve been told I should’ve stayed on for coffee because Tito Rolly kept everyone laughing. Aaaah, darn it. I missed that. Tito Rolly, sa susunod ha. Joke ka pa para marinig ko. Dalhan kita ng name tag para peace tayo. Heehee.

I heard that BongK was a fantastic storyteller. Since he was seated on the other side of the table, I wasn’t able to interact with him as much. Nevertheless, I already thought he was a genius. He emanated this aura of great creative and intellectual passion. You can see that from the pictures too!

Mari, my seatmate, was quiet and ladylike. We discovered that we worked in the same area. Our buildings are so close I can walk to hers in ten minutes (don’t worry, Mari, I won’t do that!). And what?! You have kids na?! Mari was tall and svelte; the ramp model of that night’s EB indeed!

Though most of us had met for the first time, there were no awkward moments. There wasn’t a time when one said “May dumaan na anghel ha.” One joke after another was cracked, and the only quiet moments where when we were chewing on our Pata Tim (I just can’t write enough about that ulam). Walang hinto ang Kodakan. There were camera phones and digicams all around. Ang saya ng over mega super! Great fun! We all had a grand time. Even H enjoyed the company so much he wanted to start his own blog right after that evening. We’ll see how that goes!

Good friends are hard to find. There are some golden nuggets of friendship hidden in this tangled cyberweb. I’m thankful for that. I’m thankful to have met you guys. Sa susunod na EB. O ano, Valentine’s EB naman? I’m not volunteering for name tags na. Or maybe I should redeem myself and prepare them. Heehee.

Pictures and stories of that night’s EB can be found here: Yesterday’s Post, Dr. Emer’s, Batjay’s, Tito Rolly’s, and Mari’s.

P.S. I ran into AnP yesterday at the mall. At the first sight of her I just shouted, “AnP!!! AnP!!!” I introduced myself and ta-da! Si AnP nga! We’ll meet again okay? This time not by chance na.

Toni, seems like you can’t get over that first joke of mine. Wawa ka naman. I shouldn’t have cracked that one pero talaga yatang alaskador ako e. Anyway, that only tells you that you are approachable. I wouldn’t have dared if I felt you were not friendly. Takot ko lang masampal, no?

Anyway, you met AnP at ATC? Did you know that my school is just inside AAV? Who knows, we might bump into each other again. hehe

It seems I have misread Anp’s post. You bumped into each other in Makati. Silly me. Erase mo na lang yung last paragraph ko. Pasensiya na. Matanda na si Tito Rolly e. hehe

Una… i think i figured out yung isa sa poems mo, something about heart’s desire for 2005 :p

anyway… am sorry i missed seeing you again… but i can’t help but be glad for the greater community of bloggers that we’re finnaly meeting (kahit once or twice a year lang) aside from blogging and exchnaging mails

my Jojo also hopes to start blogging more after the pinoyblog eb… but he knows he’s really too busy for it…

but he loved my crowd… i know in his mind, he was relieved beyond measure that there was not one delinquent in the crowd (except maybe ME… or all of us, in a good and charming way, of course) :)

here’s to a wonderful year then… for us all..

Mec: Hindi na-threaten si Jojo? Hehehe. Mababait naman lahat ng bloggers (I THINK!) so he shouldn’t be worried about you! :)

Tito R: Signs of aging. Heehee, just kidding!

TinTin: When you come home in May, we’ll organize an EB for you!

Hi Toni! I’m reading this post positively green with envy! Sayang we were not able to meet before I left for BKK, but I hope to look you up when I go home soon (kelan nga ba?). I also read about your encounter with AnP at the mall, that was hilarious! Btw, your food entries make me hungry.
