This darn tooth and nothing but the tooth!

by

My multi-sessioned root canal therapy has been a royal pain in the mouth, the jaw, the neck, and the wallet. While I know that I am having my tooth treated for my own good health, my oh my, this sure is one painful of way of being healthy.

Because of this darn tooth and nothing else but this tooth, I have missed out on a college reunion, a family reunion and a coming wedding where I was supposed to be a reader. Arrrgh. What beautiful timing for the toothache to arrive. While the rest are going about their merry-making, I am either at a dentist’s chair or painfully sobbing in bed.

The bright side is that my tooth is being treated before any infection can spread further. Imagine what could happen should that happen — more missed parties, more missed reunions, more missed weddings, and oh yes, lots more pain.

So fine, darn tooth, thanks for popping up with the pain now. You know how the cliche goes: “Everything happens for a reason.” If I didn’t have you treated now, who knows what dramatics could have happened. I could have been doing the first reading at my friend’s wedding and suddenly curse loudly in pain, or pass out at a Christmas party not knowing if it was from the pain or that “just one more” shot of tequila.

Yes, darn tooth, I can’t wait for all your canals to be filled. Just two more sessions I suppose. TWO more. I cannot wait for this root canal nightmare to be over. When all the canals are filled, I will rejoice! And then start worrying about that crown or that overlay. I hear that’s painful too. Oh well, I’ll worry about that later.

I know how you feel. I can sleep through a headache but not a toothache. Masakit talaga.

I’m trying my best not to get too reliant on pain killers. But it seems to be my only salvation. :(

i have one upper molar which is very much in need of attention. i had root canal about three years ago, dentist had to cut 3 nerves so I also had to go back several times. My bad, I skipped the last session so now it’s totally open again and I guess you remind me to go back to my dentist and postpone no further. I wonder how much it will cost me now.. hmm..

I hope your pain and suffering will end soon πŸ˜‰

Yikes! Better act on that before it gets worse. Sometimes the infection spreads without us knowing. And when it hits us, ouch!!!! Good luck with that one. And thanks for the sympathy. πŸ˜€

Poor you… I’m glad you’re able to see what COULD have been positive about this. The fact that you’re able to do that shows great character.=)
Good luck and may your experience show you how tough you can be if you have too.

Hi Ruy! Thank you for the compliments. πŸ˜€ While it pays to be strong about this, ack, it hurts, it hurts in the process. *L* Ah well, this ordeal will soon be over! Then I can talk talk talk and eat all the crunchy food my heart desires.

hi toni! this will make you feel better…i had root canal done on 3 teeth (yup, in one breath!) not too long ago because of an accident. but the procedure wasn’t painful at all and even got me wondering why everyone was so afraid of it. hee hee! i guess i was blessed that i had a very good dentist (from dentista inc. shangri-la mall). πŸ˜€ either that or i really just have a very high pain tolerance. πŸ˜€ and recently, my husband had a root canal as well here in the states at the rate of, hold your breath, 1500 freakin’ dollars! fortunately, it’s covered by our health insurance…well, 80% of the cost! better than nothing! so, if root canal has to be done on a number of teeth, it will actually be cheaper to import a dentist from the philippines! hahaha! πŸ˜€ i’ve had a crown on one tooth as well and it wasn’t painful. but the sound of grinding is enough to give anyone the creeps. hee hee! good luck and i hope your ordeal will be over soon. :)

Oh my, 3 teeth? *faints* 1500 dollars? *faints* πŸ˜€

My ordeal is almost over! One more session and I’m freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
