At first, I didn’t like him. That’s because the pics you see here weren’t the first ones I saw of him. And THEN I stumbled upon these two images of him right here and thought: WELL, HELL YEAH.
Look at those eyes. And that mouth. And that jaw line. Clean up the scruffy look and make him look sleeker with a new haircut, and you’ve got Edward Cullen right there.
He is beautiful. He looks naughty and dangerous. That gaze is smoldering.
She also shares a little bit about how Robert nailed the part during the auditions. She was told that there was great chemistry between Robert and Kristen Stewart (the actress playing Bella). And the best part? Robert has read ALL THREE NOVELS.
So who is playing Edward Cullen in the Twilight movie? w00t! Cheers to Robert Pattinson!

December 16, 2007 at 12:14 pm (16 years ago)I like Kristen Stewart as Bella, even though she doesn’t look EXACTLY like i envisioned Bella, she sort of looks like her & she IS an amazing actress (have you seen her in Speak? or Panic Room?)
& Robert Pattinson as Edward- IDK, I’m not happy about it, but it could have been worse. He seems like an OK actor, but he doesn’t look like a perfect Edward, which is what everyone was hoping. & Yeah I LOVE Gaspard Ulliel, he is AMAZING! I would have liked him as Edward, he was GREAT in Hannibal Rising
but back to Robert
He could pass as a nice Edward, he has a nice jaw line, but i wish his eyes were nicer & his hair needs a little more style & here’s the thing that bugs me the most—HE NEEDS HIS EYEBROWS PLUCKED!

December 17, 2007 at 5:27 am (16 years ago)i like robert pattinson as edward!!!! reason being, i could not picture any movie star as edward at all, i tried to picture who i thought would make a good edward, but i did’nt think anyone looked as i pictured him…. so im just happy that they got someone who looks kinda close to who i had pictured! i really like kristen stewart, i did picture bella’s face a wee little rounder then kristen’s, but hey she’s a very wonderful actress! newho, i just hope robert is a good actor, all ive seen him in is hp4, and he wasnt in there that much! but im sure that both kristen and robert will do a great job, and the movie will be great, i really hope so!!!! i want to read eclipse, ive read both twiligh and new moon, but i have a daughter!!!! its almost impossible to read a book, but a friend of mine says its good!

But then I re-watched Harry Potter 4, and as Cedric Diggory I thought, “Hmm, I think he can pull this off.”
And THEN I saw this YouTube clip showing Robert Pattinson in a movie called Vanity Fair (with Reese Witherspoon), and BAM! I was totally convinced:
If there’s anything they seem to be serious about in the making of Twilight, it’s that they really seem to be going for actors with ability and depth – not just looks (which, honestly, can be faked with make up, dyes, and wigs anytime).
Makes me look forward to the movie’s release even more.
(sigh!)
P.S.
Apparently, Robert is also a musician who is skilled in guitar and keyboards. Whoa! Perfectly EDWARD. 😉

January 6, 2008 at 12:31 pm (16 years ago)I keep saying that the key to the success and acceptance of this movie will be if he and the actress playing Bella have true on-screen chemistry. If that happens then I think we will all be prepared to overlook the little things that make Robert Pattinson’s version of Edward different to the one we’ve all got in our heads! (Oh and I keep wishing for a longer hair and a long sexy vampire coat! 😉 )

I knew who was playing what roles before I ever read the books and even though I knew what they looked like none of them I pictured in my mind while I was reading the books. I think that no actor can truly capture what everyone envisioned Edward or Bella to look like because everyone when reading the series had pictured Edward in their own way, they created their own perfect looking vampire in their heads. So like I said I didn’t even picture Robert as Edward when I read the series but I am very pleased that he will be playing him because he has a very perfect looking face…like Edward is supposed to. And he can definitely pull of a vampire role. I love vampire movies and I cannot wait for this one to come out!!!

March 19, 2008 at 11:04 am (16 years ago)Unfortunately, I was disappointed with Robert as Cedric and I am even more disappointed with him as Edward. To me he is neither handsome, passionate, or talented; his casting has been a big blow to a big fan! I have not seen any good acting on his part which could possibly justify him for such a great role…
Anyway, I feel horrible that I already hate the movie, but I do.
It will be nothing without a fantastic star – and Pattinson is not that star.

April 5, 2008 at 1:18 pm (16 years ago)sigh* i think robert pattinson, looks wise, he’ll make an O.K. edward. but then i m not sure about he’s acting skills, i didnt watch harry potter, i hope he’s good though. but then i a bit, disappointed that he’s acting as Edward. i really really wished SO MUCH that the role would go to Gaspard Ulliel! when i first saw gaspard’s pics on the net, me and my friend didnt even know who he was, the first thing we said to each other was”omg, EDWARD!” gaspard is like the exact image i had of edward in my mind! i was so hoping it would be him acting as edward. but then again, Robert Pattinson does have the vampire look i guess, lets just hope he can pull out the Edward role well. 😀

I think Catherine Hardwick will do a great job making this film fun…not sure how much she will stick to the story in the book though. I read a nasty little rumor that they are cutting out the scene in Port Angeles where Bella is followed by the three thugs and Edward rescues her. Is that true? Is there a way to find out or do we just have to wait?
