One More Chance

by

I was halfway through writing a review of this film when I accidentally hit the “Close Window” button. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh, kakainis!!! Anuvah. Hay. Let me rewrite.

One More Chance movieOne More Chance tells the story of Popoy (John Lloyd Cruz) and Basha (Bea Alonzo). Their relationship of 5 years proves to be a comfort for both of them, each one a bastion of stability for the other. Comfort can be stifling however, especially when personalities begin to clash. The story follows Popoy and Basha’s struggle with their troubled relationship and their desire to pursue each of their own dreams. Should they keep trying to make their relationship work (Ala Side A’s “Yes, it’s you… You’re the one in my life I’ve known. From the start that it’s you I’d spend forever with so please hold on with me…”) or should they just move on and live separate lives (“We can’t go on just holding on to time…” Hello Phil Collins!)? I don’t want to write anymore as I might give spoilers!

Here’s the trailer:

You probably know how this film will end already, nevertheless you’ll enjoy the ride. Nakakakilig. The story was kept real. That’s what I liked about the film best. There were no overly exaggerated crying and screaming scenes (thank goodness!!). Enough time was given for the story to unfold and you grow along with the characters in the movie. You feel the awkwardness of a first meeting post-break-up, the tension of an unresolved and possible romance. Umamin na ang mga nakaka-relate. Hmmmm!! The dialogue was simple but still delightfully moving. The chemistry between John Lloyd and Bea was really great. This is the first John-Bea movie I’ve seen, and I haven’t really watched any of their local shows, so seeing how good they are together on-screen was pretty, well, kilig.

There are some quotable quotes in the film, but I’ll reserve this for notes with those who’ve seen it. Again, ayoko maging isang giant spoiler!

Watch niyo nalang. In fairness, maganda siya. Bilis, panoorin niyo na para may maka-chika ako sa movie. 😀

Naku, Toni. I enjoyed their movie too. It was hard writing a review without giving too much away. Very real, very mature. No patweetums.

Yup! I keep recommending it nga to my friends eh!

gusto ko rin sanang panoorin, pero first i must know, sino ang nagkatuluyan, A, si john lloyd at si maja, o B, si john lloyd at si bea? if you have time please leave a message on my blog or an email perhaps, and just say whether it’s A or B.

i think i’ll pass if it’s a B. :) wala lang, im tired of formulas in pinoy movies. 😀 i saw the trailer and i want maja for popoy :)

    Answered you through email 😉
