My Journey with Lamaze

by

I’ve been wanting to write about my childbirth class experience, but wanted to save the entry till after I graduate. An opportunity came to write about the class earlier though, and so I grabbed it. Here it is:

My Journey with Lamaze

I’ll still write a blog entry about my whole Lamaze class experience when H & I have completed all six classes. :) But in case you are interested or may know of someone who’s interested in learning more about Lamaze class, perhaps you could share the article with them.

In other pregnancy news…

Today is rest day for me. It’s supposed to be work-from-home day, but oh boy, I’m just plain exhausted. My OB said Weeks 28-32 will be the toughest, as my body adjusts some more to this growing miracle inside me.

Man, is it true.

I’ve woken up in the middle of the night gasping for breath. Nothing dramatic, mind you, and it’s only happened twice. Still, I didn’t think it would happen, but it did. The baby’s taking up more and more space inside my belly.

My appetite’s back to normal. No more insane cravings or huge binges. I’m able to control my portions better now. Maybe that’s because my stomach has no more room to expand, what with the baby growing. For as long as I continue to eat right, everything’s fine.

Just call me Elephant Legs. And so my ankles are swelling, and my husband just called me Elephant Legs. I couldn’t even get annoyed because it was true.

Have you got my back? Thank goodness for those massage techniques we learned in class. I call on H when I really need that darn back massage. My belly’s growing heavier, causing back pains now and then. When H isn’t there, I do my own exercises which relieve the pain. Still… OW.

Timmy has been moving a LOT. We feel his kicks more now. H pressed his cheek against my tummy once and Timmy kicked him in the face. It was so adorable. I can’t wait to kiss those little feet for real!

Don’t get me wrong, I love being pregnant! While these aches and pains irritate me, in a way, I welcome them. I embrace them. I know I’m going through all these because Timmy baby is growing. I sit back in my chair, caress my tummy, and am just thankful, so very thankful, for this beautiful blessing.

My baby’s coming out soon, maybe in 7-10 weeks.

Oh wow. :)

Now, more than ever, I’m inpsired to take a birthing class, if only I could find one closer to me that would be great. Thanks for sharing all these, i really helps a lot!

Even if you don’t intend to go Lamaze, a birthing class really helps you learn more about pregnancy, labor and delivery and manage expectations. I’d recommend it to any pregnant couple! :)

    Hi, Toni!

I can imagine how heavy your tummy must feel by now. I’m sure you are so excited for the baby to come out…

Have you ever tried using a belly band? It’s usually made of thick garter and it goes around the lower part of your tummy all the way to your back where you fasten it with velcro. Sometimes, it’s sold built into maternity panties. I used mine a lot and I could walk for hours with it, because it supports the tummy and lessens the strain on the back. When I didn’t wear it, I got tired very easily.

Treat yourself to massages. It’s the best relief for swollen limbs. When it was time to massage the back, I would lie on my side…

Take care and enjoy your pregnancy!

I’ve been thinking about getting a belly band actually. Will check out some brands this weekend. Many thanks for the advice MJM! :)

I love reading your pregnancy posts! I don’t think we’ll get pregnant anytime soon as we agreed to not have any yet atleast for a year but it makes me know what to expect. I went to nursing school and Im a registered nurse but what I learned in school is different from what actual pregnant women experience.

I pray you have a safe pregnancy and delivery. You and your husband are so close to seeing timmy!

Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy!
