Mommy and the elusive happy shower

by

QuackyFriend: “What is your favorite indulgence now that you’re a Mommy?”
Me: (pause) “A long, luxurious shower.”

Seriously. I cherish the moments I can soap it up with my favorite vanilla-scented creamy body wash. I cherish a warm steamy shower. I cherish the quiet splishy splashy sound the water makes when it hits the floor.

You’d think it comes by once in a blue moon. Well, I’m telling you, it does. Maybe this happens during the first few years of motherhood. I’ll let you know a couple of years from now, perhaps when I’ve finally used up that bottle of creamy vanilla wash.

Showers are now 3-minuters. Very good for the environment, right? There were several times I literally counted the seconds while I shampooed and soaped in the shower. When I was nearing the 150 count I’d be drying my hair. Voila! All clean, done, hey baby boy, Mommy’s almost there!

You’d think it would be easy once the baby’s asleep. Not for me. He can sense when I’m out of the room for more than two minutes, even when he’s in a deep sleep.

Me: “Husby, can you watch him? I just need to take a loooong bath this evening.”
Husby: “Sure, Wifey.”
(I lock the bathroom door behind me and begin preparing my bath. I’m about to get into the shower when…)
Husby: *knocks* “Wifey, someone’s looking for you.”
Me: “Make him sleep!”
Husby: “He doesn’t want to stop crying.”
Me: “Oh creamy vanilla body wash, we shall meet again!”

If you’re thinking of getting a Mommy friend of yours happy bath stuff for a present, you’re on the right track. If you throw in that you can watch the baby while she goes takes her time at the bath, even better. Maybe she won’t use it immediately, especially if she has a little toddler always looking for her.

This Mommy will soon conquer that elusive luxurious happy shower! It’ll happen soon, right?

Right?

Hey Toni, it has been 28 months for me :)) I have 2 bottles of my favorite body wash sitting in the bathroom waiting for me to open them. Sometimes I get to use ’em but only because they’re almost like shampoo, easy to rinse. Lolz. But yes, I’m positive our happy shower moment is coming very very soon! :))

Hi Toni! When my baby was still a toddler, I brought her with me to the bathroom! She brought along her toys with her to keep her occupied. She happily sat on one corner and played with her toys.

Hi Toni, I know exactly how you feel. My son is 29 months and I still get knocks on the door when i shower!

During weekends, I have my happy shower when he’s taking a nap. :)

haha… from my experience with my nieces, “sleep” would probably be my answer. :) but a long shower could be a close second.

3 kids and i still haven’t had that long shower i’ve been wanting. it’s always 5 mins tops. sometimes while in the shower, k1 & k2 will persistently knock until i come out. how’s that for demanding kids? haha!

hopefully one day we can have that much needed an hour and a half moment in the shower 😀

After I first had my little one I found it really hard to get any time to myself, hubster was either working or asleep and yeah showers became so fast sometimes I could hardly feel the water! Thankfully we ended up in the lucky position that hubster could cut down his hours and we finished doing up the house got a new cheap bathroom suite and I was thankfully able to spend a little more me time. Don’t get me wrong I didn’t mind looking after my little one all the time but it’s great feeling like I have time to pamper myself at least a little.
