Is Heath Ledger dead?

by

I got a call from a friend this morning with the opening line: “Is Heath Ledger dead?”

I go, “Well, good morning to you too. Is he?”

He goes, “It’s in the news.”

I go, “No way. No way. Nooooo. Didn’t Brad Renfro just die?” (A bit non-sequitur I know, but still.)

He says, “Check the internet!!!”

And so I do. And I see. And I read.

Heath Ledger is indeed dead. WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?!

Yes, I AM affected. He was one of my favorite actors. He’s handsome, carries himself well, and a damn good actor. C’mon, A Knight’s Tale, Casanova, The Order, Lords of Dogtown, 10 Things I Hate About You, The Four Feathers, Brokeback Mountain, and he’s playing the scary-looking Joker in the Batman Begins sequel, The Dark Knight.

And he’s only 28.

As I write this, no formal announcement has been made about the cause of his death. I don’t know how to end this entry because I AM affected.

*sniff* We will miss you, Heath. :(

I was shocked too. I wonder if his drug use was the reason why him and Michelle Williams split up. kawawa naman ang daughter nya.

There are rumors about that. Am not sure. Their daughter is very young. It must be so hard on their family. :(

I’ve never seen Brokeback. The DVD is selling for PHP 100 at Astrovision for those who are interested.

I love 10 Things About You and didn’t know that that was him until I read the news about his death. That’s one movie I’d like to see again.

It’s a good movie, Em. Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal are fantastic actors. They made the story raw and real. Do make time to see it sometime. :)

Yes sadly it is true. He had trouble sleeping. Apparently sleeping pills qualify as drugs so the standard line is drug overdose. But until there is a formal announcement we won’t know for sure. Let’s just pray for his eternal repose. My favorite film of his was Four Feathers.

When you have news, I hope you can share them with me! I also read that it was an accident. I hope there was no foul play involved. :(

I was shocked when I read the news in Yahoo. How sad for his daughter and Michelle Williams.
But at least he did go out with a bang considering his role in The Dark Knight. I think it’s a role people will remember him by (aside from Brokeback Mountain, of course!)

The Joker, the guy from Brokeback, and to me, the guy from 10 Things I Hate About You.
He was a fine, fine, fine actor.

I heard the news on the radio this morning. I felt sad as well. He’s a great actor and it’s a shame to lose someone with a promising future.

I think he had another movie in the works, after The Dark Knight. I wonder how they’ll proceed with it now. :(

I checked my email this morning and my husband wrote me with a title: Heath Ledger is dead. I felt strange reading about it because I recently just watched the trailer of The Dark Knight and he was so alive there. So sad. :(

He was so gooooood in that trailer. I’m sure he was even more awesome in the movie. The movie will still be a hit for sure. I hope Heath will be watching from wherever he is and see how much his performance will be appreciated.

Sad news indeed :( I too am affected – moreso because he was so young and had such a promising career ahead of him. God bless his soul.

He has a wonderful filmography. Oh no, in the Oscars they have a segment where they honor those who passed away during the past year right? Heath’s picture will show up. I think I’ll cry. Really.

It really sucks when people you know (personally or not) die and die early… I wish celebrities would stop doing that. It just plain sucks for people like us who are helpless and are forced to grieve for them just because we happened to see them in their movies thereby making them a part of our lives voluntarily or involuntarily.
I just hate farewells and the deep dark permanency of death.

    Rest in peace man…

True, even if we don’t personally know these celebrities, we can’t help but grieve, as we are doing now for Heath. :( Yes, Heath, rest in peace.

sad din ako. nakakapanghinayang, he’s so young! at least he was able to finish ‘a dark night’ so meron siyang last hurrah (and i also read he did a very good job in that movie).

Have you seen the trailer? Check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkT1wdRePco

When someone read the news to me, my own reply was that you must mean Brad Renfro! I read elsewhere that that was their response too. And now you. I think two fine young actors dying for nothing is just too much. So sad. He has a daughter too. Sigh.

My friend Angie and I were wondering why we were so affected. Perhaps because he’s from our generation? One of the finest? So sad. And yes, he has a family too. Arrrgh.

It was so sudden indeed. And your comment made me laugh. Hehehe. Oh did you know Jake was godfather to Heath’s daughter Matilda? Sigh.

Australia is in mourning because of him…they all love Heath Ledger here.
I saw his father on TV last night during an interview, nakakaawa. He was trying hard to compose himself in front of the media.

Nangangarap pa naman ako na one day eh makasalubong ko sya dito sa Sydney (he usually hangs out at Bondi Beach). Crush ko ‘tong actor na to kasi ang galing galing nya talaga.

If Hollywood is in mourning, what more Australia! Sigh, Heath Ledger is indeed a global celebrity. He will be really missed.

Only 2, right? :( Well actually no matter how old she is, it’s still so sad. Sob!

affected din ako. hindi pa nga ako naka-recover sa pagkamatay ni brad renfro (who was one of my biggest crushes in high school) eh, tapos si heath naman. sa “10 things…” pa lang, minahal ko na siya. tapos sa “the patriot” din. he was also in “monster’s ball,” which i liked din. tapos, siempre, “brokeback mountain” at gusto ko na talagang mapanood ang ‘the dark night.” magaling nga talaga siyang aktor.

    rest in peace, heath! :(

I haven’t seen The Patriot nor Monster’s Ball. Maybe I should. In honor of Heath!
