Can I put MOM on my resume?

Can I put “Mom” on my resume?

Seriously. Can I?

My baby’s only 7 weeks old and I already feel like I have a job other than my professional career. Think about it.

I’ve learned how to become a better organizer, budget holder, activity leader, health consultant, party consultant, teacher, multi-tasker, team player, life coach, pacifier. Those strengths can be good for any good job!

I’m no model Mom, but I sure as hell have been learning a lot the past couple of weeks. Skills are being built and are continuing to be honed.  Timmy hasn’t even started on solid food yet or have any siblings — cook, nutritionist and conflict mediator will come in handy in time.

Motherhood as a full-time career — that would be so ideal. It may not pay much (or at all) but the gurgles and coos, the milestones you don’t miss are all worth it. Witnessing Timmy’s first real smile for me (and it was no gassy smile, I swear) made my heart almost jump out of my chest.

But that’s an ideal, and another story. For now, can I put “Mom” on my resume? Seriously. Because really, I never realized until now how motherhood can help build skills that are valuable for any career!

Hence, the high regard for mothers/parents. And parenthood is a lifetime and most noble and rewarding profession. =)

    Cheers to parents everywhere!

Even before I got pregnant, parents are always champions in my book. I’ve witnessed how my mom and my sisters run their household while trying to juggle other responsibilities, it was simply admirable.

Actually I personally think it’s okay to put “homemaker” or something similar on a resume–along with a list of the many, many skills that go along with it–especially if the person reading your resume is a mom too. 😉

I also find that being a mom of an infant is actually equal to TWO full-time jobs, not just one. 😀

Unfortunately, being a Mom is one of the most underappreciated jobs. And its the one that we can never resign from.

Haha that’s right! No filing of resignation here. 😀

sure go ahead. being a mom is the hardest job in the universe. you are everything to your child. its a job that’s underpaid, overworked and at times unappreciated but the smiles and milestones of your little one makes it all worth while. :)

So true, those baby smiles and coos make it all worthwhile! :)
